Young guys that stood out

Since we got to see a lot of backups and young guys yesterday, I'd like to hear who stood out. Who looks like a rising star? Who could possibly move up the depth chart quickly? #12 Jones and #22 Hicks could be really good (if Hicks stops out running his legs  ). I also feel better about our backup QB situation every time I see Derrick play.

Peoples. Dude is a monster. Give him an off season in our S&C program.

Add Jermaine McDaniel to my list.

I like the long term combo of People’s and Hicks.

All those guys are (will be) studs. I know that every QB played. Did the big freshman from WS Glenn get in?

I don't think so, didn't see his name on the participation report. Not sure I even saw him on the sidelines. Funny how some saw him as our starter when he signed. It may suggest how deep we are at QB.

I cannot recall the last time we were weak at the QB position.

Brown was not dressed out. However, he was slapping players on the back and celebrating each score with his teammates. Jones, Peoples and Hicks were stellar, but I loved the play of McDaniel and EJ Scott. Wow...we are deep!!! Watched some replay of the So Alabama-Memphis game. We may have to win a shootout. The Jags certainly have some athletes.

Satterfield said in his postgame comments that everyone who was in uniform played.

I'm going to agree with what Pierre Banks said during the telecast; Peoples is the future. He also said Satterfield told him there has never been a running back in our program like him(let that sink in). We have an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions that are all Fr. or So. And don't forget Harrington either. Really looking forward to how Satterfield and Ponce make use of all the talent.

I think Peoples can be good based on his size, athleticism, and high school highlights. But what did he do yesterday to stand out? He averaged 5.9 yards per carry when Moore and Hicks averaged 14-15 per carry.

I'm loving this new redshirt rule!

Yeah he didn’t do much. If only he had ripped off a 70+ run to kind of pad his YPC average- lol. Absolutely loaded with specialty guys.

Not sure if anyone talked about it but damn that punt return by Duck might have been the best one I’ve ever seen an App player pull off. Field reversals and several jukes. Granted it was GW but man that kid was awesome. I think back to some of the later years in FCS and our special teams- especially kick coverage was putrid. We had to absolutely use several starters in those days and hope the opponent didn’t start at the 40 every time. Have we ever had three kick returns for scores in three games? What is our season record?

Probably sometime around the David Reeves/Daniel Jeremiah era. Since Joe Burchette, it's been All-Conference caliber QBs.

It is so nice to think of special teams as a strength rather than something we must overcome. I wonder what changed?

Talent within our depth.

We were fairly pedestrian between AE and TL. Deandre Presley looked to be a solid replacement, but after his first year as a starter, he fizzled. Really the same with Jamal Jackson and Kam Bryant.
The only problem now is knowing we will probably lose a very talented QB because someone (or 2) will hardly ever see the field with a solid RS sophomore and RS freshman at qb1&2.

Don't forget the Offensive Line! I have been seeing some big wholes this season that I could drive my truck through. Their pass blocking is impressive also. I was worried about losing some really good ones that graduated last year, but these guys have stepped up and are doing great!

Pass protection has to improve this week.
