Field goal attempt

Not second guessing a call from the sidelines but wouldn’t the odds of picking up 4 yards be better than making a 56 yard field goal? Especially in that situation. With 20 seconds left if we make a first down we are pretty much in field goal range with time for maybe one more play. We don’t make it and they get the ball pretty much in the same spot anyway. I would like to think we could have picked it up. Thoughts?

Could have won game out right. Was Overtime either way is how I saw it with a miss.

Satt didn’t always attack this case.

And if Thomas would've thrown a pick 6 or fumbled people would be crying about not attempting the FG. Everything is 20/20 in retrospect.

If he makes it, we’re all talking NY6 and happy drinking. He didn’t, so we get to drown our sorrows and second guess.

I agreed with trying the kick. I didn't like the third down call before attempting the kick.

There’s a video of Staton hitting a 60 yarder in practice a few weeks ago. Was not surprised Satt made the call.

Either call was correct IMHO.

Yep kind of flip a coin. I think if your kicker has the leg, you have to give him a chance. Even if you go for it and make it there are two or three other bad things that can happen

I think we should have run on 3rd, tried to get a few yards (if not a 1st) and called a TO, them tried the FG. Don’t disagree with the FG attempt, but would have like to try if a few yards closer.
I want to be disappointed, but with a new OL,QB, and several new assistan lt coaches, I am really pleased with our play

Had distance looked like just wide right. The best arw 50/50 from that distance. He is a solid kicker. Very solid

My call was to go for the 1st down, but absolutely no 2nd guessing from me to try for the FG.

Hey, he had a chance to wrap up the game against the #10 team in the country in their own stadium (if we had won we would have won in the two biggest stadiums in the country). As people had noted, it was like 4 yards longer than what Stanton was able to kick in practice so it wasn't like he was being asked to do the impossible.

No problem going for the FG. This team might not lose another game. Thomas is unflappable and we are loaded with playmakers. And we have to feel better than we did with Rubino kicking FG’s and PAT’s

Did not drink during game, definitely drinking now. Not sad drinking, just calm down drinking.

I am a pessimist always have been that’s why as coach I rarely won close games against teams with more talent. I always measured my team based on what I knew they could do. With that in mind I felt we had to win in regulation, felt like they would have the advantage in OT so I would have kicked as well.

Imho the most important kick we missed was not putting it through the end zone after taking the lead. Out of the end zone = no return to midfield. Why we don’t do this every kick is beyond me Rubinho can kick it out no sweat.
