The WSJ must be hard up for stories. Time to move on, Cobb's letter ended this saga.

Doesn't look as if the WSJ, or JM, are ready to let it go. Shaping up to be a long winter.

One of the things I keep seeing from the "Cobb/Peacock are Evil" group are quotes like these from the article:

Why act so quickly if Moore didn’t see eye to eye with his bosses? Why not try to work out a private compromise before going public? Why not emphasize dignity over a display of administrative power?

While I see that in various forms over and over you never see the fact that Coach Moore started talking about next year immediately after the Illinois State game before he even left the field mentioned. That is what forced Cobb's hand and he "had to act so quickly" and "go public" on Sunday.

I thought long and hard before posting this and probably will not post about this topic again to try to let it die down even though I get frustrated with only posting information that suits the story the writer is trying to tell.

Rawlings completely ignored that a deal was done in private a year ago! You said it well, NewtoASU!

But success skewed the perspective, eventually fostering divisive debates about Moore’s future and about ASU joining bottom-feeders from the top NCAA division in another league — the kind of conference-realignment fantasizing that baffles reasonable minds at every level

I never thought Moore was done. Especially after the letters were released. I am sure he will have his say again and again and....

not arguing your opinion but i'd say a move to the southern conference in the 70's, a conference with long, old traditions with area opponents was seen as less "bottom feeding" as compared to the sun belt and it's ranking among other fbs conferences. the way i see it, i dont mind moving up but it seems that there are a ton of schools ahead of us lining up in those conferences that will play for bcs games. those schools will never leave(move down) from those upper tier conferences and the thought of climbing the ladder of fbs will be tough because everyone else above us jockeying for position will be stepping on our fingers from the ladder rungs above us trying to keep us in the lower conference. i hate the travel distances for the sun belt and if we're truly concerned about our student athletes this would be an issue because of constant travel and the effects on academics. but, it's not about the athlete, it's about donor wishes and money...plain and simple. i don't mind moving up but again there's no clear option. i'd also hate being a conference commissioner or a athletic director right now. so much flip flopping and two faced conversations...malox stock should do very well this year.

Jerry still calling in favors to help stir the pot. Is he trying to undo all that was accomplished over the past 24 years?

Rawlings is, has been, and always will be a tool. His reporting requirements only include thoughts from his head. No need to fact check.

Let's all do this together.

2. This cut will now need to be disinfected. Let's just pour rubbing alcohol into it. Then after that, let's pack it with salt.

Hurts, doesn't it? This is what we are doing to our beloved school every time crap like this is brought up. Jerry Moore is rubbing salt into a wound that shouldn't be there in the first place if he would have followed through with his agreement.

Per agreement, this was his last year and he did a helluva job with a very young team that was hampered by injuries. The team exceeded my expectations and remembering the posts prior to the start of this past season, he exceeded the expectations of many others. Now it's time to pass the baton with DIGNITY and go enjoy retirement that a legend deserves.

You know what I would just love to see, Jerry show up at the press conference with Sattdaddy today and put all this to rest. Jerry, let's put some neosporin on this unfortunate situation.

Rawlings isn't a reporter, he is an opinion columnist. He is paid to write what he thinks. Unfortunately, almost all of what he writes is hard to read with all of the flowery verbiage that does nothing but detract from what the column is supposed to be about. He also loves to push buttons, that is why he put in the line about NCAA bottom feeders.

I fully supported his option to make it known that he was not going by choice. However he is losing me now and I am sure most everyone feels it is time to shut up.

Yesterday one of the players told me what happened in that meeting room when the bomb was dropped on the team. It was heartbreaking.

I'm going to write Jerry at his home, thank him, tell him I support him and ask him to be a team player just like he tells the kids that get beat out for a position and who think they should be playing.
I will also remind him that however much it hurts he has always espoused puting the program first...now its time to walk the walk. Don't undo what it tood 24 years to helpbuild.

I'm sure it was heartbreaking and in a light favorable to Coach Moore.

I think we can take Cobb's comment from Rawlings' column about wanting this topic out of the papers and off the internet as a warning that if it continues to be discussed he may be forced to put out more information on the reasons for the decision. So many seem to be forgetting the state of the program after the 2011 season and Rawlings mentioned nothing of it. We can't whitewash those issues with the hopes that only the possitives of Coach's career will show through. It's time to move on. We will miss Coach Moore and will not like him not being part of the program but that appears to be the choice he is making.

So, the SoCon was so less "bottom feeding" that it remained in I-A in 1981?
