Can't help but notice packed stadiums at MSU, ODU and NDSU. We make excuses about the time of year and what not to explain our 15K for playoffs. This is the issue that bothers me about the move up. We have a soft fan base. A couple of losing seasons and they might stop showing up. Fire away...

We have the best fan base in the FCS. Could it be better? Heck yes, but to say our fan base is soft is a little lame.If we were playing a home playoff game today, I bet we would have had the highest attendance.

Today's the quarterfinals. Who's to say we wouldn't have had a full house today. I seem to remember the moaning about having to play Richmond on a Friday night in Boone and how noboby wouldshow up. How'd that work out?

I watched the GSU vs ODU game today and was pulling for GSU. I'm sick of ODU and CAA...here was my post on FB after the game......

we have a good base and being a homer, you can have that opinion of app having the best but montana has the best fan base and playoff support...

Boone population: 17K
Fargo metro: 212K
Norolk/VA Beach metro: 1.6M

If all our fans didn't have to drive 100+ miles on short notice, we'd be packing the house as well. In our disappointing games, we have the population of Boone in KBS.

I thought it looked like more also. Their stadium holds <18k and it looked full. Anyway the point is MSU regular season attendance probably averaged about what they had at the playoff game last night. They had a couple 20K games, season opener and EW but the rest were around the capacity of the stadium. We were 10K off our regualr attendance (if you believe the 15K number).

We had a home QTR final game against Villanova two years ago... We have a great fan base I fully agree. I should have chosen my words a bit more carefully. Our solid fan base is the 15-16K that showed up last week. I am proud to be part of that group.

And if we did sell out, you'd say that's a reason not to move to FBS, because the playoffs are so popular with our fans. You can't have it both ways.

I heard it after the 2007 Richmond game.

ND State had 18k and EWU had 7500 ---

We have a great core of 15k fans at App. I think NDSU and Montana has a more faithful fanbase than we do. If App played NDSU in Frisco I'd wager they'd bring more fans.

That sir are the exact stats that equates to our being FCS and not long ago having moved up to FBS.

I get your point but it should be noted that as of 2010 census Boone has a population of 33k.

I don't care about playoff attendence if we are FBS. Our regular season numbers speak for themselves.

We'll see the same type of attendance in the regular season once ASU gets closer to the .500 spot in the FBS...
