THURSDAY UPDATE:

Whelp, a vast improvement for the game day forecast. We've gone from soggy to less soggy, to dry. We'll take the dry with sunshine. Game day weather is spot on wonder as of this morning. Rain is out of the forecast. Tailgating should be great and the game weather looks fine. Temps will be about the same as in the origional post... scroll down!

WEDNESDAY UPDATE:

Good news on the forecast front for Saturday's game. Modeling has a much better handle on what, and where, the remnants of Harvey will be; think Ohio Valley. Bottom line, looks like rain chance will be rather small. Muggy, but I don't see the larger rain event data was suggesting yesterday, playing out. So... OK!

Fellow Mountaineers... pack your rain gear for this game; chances are pretty good that you'll need it. It appears tropical moisture, from the remnants of Harvey, will find its way across a good portion of the Southeast. Athens, GA, stands a pretty good chance to be in on this tropical precip. Rain could heavy and steady and times. But, compared to what's been unfolding in Texas, it won't remotely compare.

Please note, rain expected across the Southeast Friday as well. So, for those traveling to Athens, use some extra caution on the roads should you encounter showers / storms.

BREAKING IT DOWN:

NOON: Plenty of clouds, rain probable - 80

3 PM: Clouds continue, rain chance continues - 82

KICKOFF: Mostly cloudy, rain chance remains - 82

Halftime: Mostly cloudy, rain chance remains - 78

Now it's football season!

This forecast reminds me of the ODU game in Norfolk two years ago. I hope the outcome is as enjoyable!

As mentioned already, it's now time for football with the first OFFICIAL weather update of the year. Looking forward to the next 12.

Rain affects different teams in different ways - some types it hurts more than others - i.e.-triple option teams - it tends to favor the teams with more size and strength - as for us, I think it would hurt our defense because we do rely on speed and quickness more than just overall power and UGA has a natural grass field which also doesn't do us any favors ---

Local Atlanta TV stations here have lowered the chance of rain to less than 20% for the App/UGA game. Go APP!!!

The latest appears to be 20% with mostly sunny during the day and clearing at night. Maybe showers will move out early.

At least with the cloud cover it'll be cooler which should help prevent the cramping that we suffered with in Knoxville last year.

Saturday is looking APPStanding now.... modeling finally has a good hold of Harvey and how fast it will track up and through the region. From a soggy forecast to one filled with sunshine and dry conditions. Game conditions should be spot on awesome.
