I agree! I know the Jake Stroot version of the Michigan upset quite possibly can never be matched......but we haven't had a decent one in quite awhile.

Yep! Pretty much non existent nowadays. Other schools are making us look like Div. II. Sad we can't get someone with some passion for this department.

Jake is now employed by our foe on opening weekend. He put out some quality work during his time at App. Hopefully he won't get to much footage from our game with the Dawgs to put in any of their hype videos.

I thought the best videographer went to Louisville.... the second guy was good but the first was awesome.....his music and camera work was out the chart.

Jake Stroot is who left for Louisville. Then Smart hired him away to UGA.

I think they just upload to twitter now to avoid copyright infringement for song choices on youtube.
During the season, there's always a several minute long hype video for each game.

Jesus, no one here is saying they suck and should scrap the whole team. Everything about App doesn't have to be rah rah they are the best ever this is a message board. I used to love the videos from A few years ago bc they were long and were released a week before the game. Really got everyone in the dorm hyped up all week to go to the game. Now they release them after the team watches it first.... which is cool, I understand but man those videos are such a good marketing tool to get people excited and come to the games. Now they are released when I'm already in the parking lot cooking before the game. I understand it but just not my preference.

Gonzo and I both worked for Jake while we were in school. He was an awesome boss and worked his ass of, we even had a futon in the video room that I found him crashing on a time or two. We also had some very talented students working along side us that really contributed to the quality of the videos Jake was putting out at the time.
Can't wait to see him again down in Athens.

Every video department in America needs to look at Clemson's in game videos. Their social media accounts have been nationally recognized as the best multiple times. They're uploading high-res well produced videos IN GAME. Lightning fast production.

The videos are great.
We need more with easy access and similar quality to the past.
Nothing got me more pumped preseason and pregame.

Well, after four years of not being able to join these forums, I finally can post on here. I'd like to formally introduce myself as Dillon Mangum, one of the students behind the videos you guys watch every week. I'd like to thank everyone on these forums as well as social media for supporting our program these last few years. I was the last student that Jake Stroot hired to graduate. I've had an incredible time watching this program grow over the past four years and I'm excited for what is to come.
As for you guys missing the App State Football Videos, I promise that I left that program in good hands. George, my boss, worked very diligently with us to make sure we provided the best content possible. To give you a little background, we are a bunch of students who volunteer our own time and energy every week and weekend, even after football season ends to the program. We bring our own video gear and our own ideas. Over the years, I’ve spent many nights eyeballing this forum to see what you guys said about these videos. Trust me. We read what you say.
With that being said, our video program is passion driven. We we’re constantly compared to D1 schools with million dollar video budgets, or Clemson who has one of the highest rated social media teams in college football. Truth is, we did all of this on our own time, with our own gear, and our own money to produce these videos. Most other schools we competed with gave scholarships to their staff, provided gear for their video guys, and some even paid big time salaries. But guess who kept winning the awards for some of the best college football videos in the nation? We did. And that is what made us proud to be in the position we were in. That turned our passion into fire.
To answer some of your questions, S.Lewis understands our main issue we have dealt with over these past few years. YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook all have strict copyright guidelines now that keep us from posting our videos. That use to not be the case when I first started at App. That was the main reason why many people never saw our videos because we couldn’t pay tens of thousands of dollars for rights to a song that players and recruits loved. We kept the video internal. Trust me, it’s upsetting when you spend 60 hours on a video one week only to realize that the entire fan base can’t see it because of copyright.
Secondly, when I first started at App, my entirely mentality was that these videos were for you guys. We were there to please the fans. I was entirely wrong. You can be mad at me for saying this. Ha. I still remember to this day when it clicked for me. These videos are for the recruits. There I was watching Ronald Blair give his “going-away” speech and he said something I’ll never forget. “I came to App because I saw how these players were movie stars in these videos. I wanted to be a movie star”. I realized right away that I was making these videos to get recruits to watch.
That brings me to the music choices. We got so much hate for music. My parents always got a sneak peek of the video each week before we shared it on social media and my mom would always complain about that “dang rap music”. Well, rap music won’t be going away. That’s what the guys like, and that’s what the recruits like.
Finally, where do I hope to see the video program go? I hope to see it soar. When I left, a lot of new talent came in. Don’t be too harsh on them. They’re young and still learning the ropes of what it takes to be apart of the video program. We’ll see some good stuff come out of that office this year! This new video board is going to be incredible. I’ve heard a lot about it and I’m excited to finally see it in action. Just because I’ve graduated doesn’t mean I won’t be leaving football. I cannot wait to get back up on the mountain this season and be shooting from the sidelines! It’s going to be incredible!
