I've heard several folks say they'd like to get one statement at year-end rather than getting a statement for every single donation. Here's the deal on that. Long ago, the University established a policy that every donation would be acknowledged in writing at the time of the donation. I'm sure this was an offshoot of the IRS requirement that there be contemporaneous written acknowledgement of many donations. While the IRS does allow a consolidated statement for the year, the IRS requirement and University policy regarding contemporaneous written receipt are still in place.
Now for the good news.
If you want a single statement at year-end rather than monthly receipts, all you have to do is shoot an email to give@appstate.edu and request a consolidated statement. They can easily set your account to consolidated statement and would actually prefer that.

For what its worth. My pledge to Yosef that includes monthly debits from checking account comes on a consolidated statement, but I also receive a per donation statement for anything extra I give throughout the year in addition to my pledge.

If you email and request consolidated only, they'll drop the per donation statement.bigCasu wrote:For what its worth. Re: Yosef Giving - One Statement
I doubt it. Experience tells me that folks change emails more frequently than they update their account information. The other charitable organizations to which I give (all online, all auto-draft, all monthly receipts are emailed) send a paper statement at year end, too.Rekdiver wrote:Could they email the monthly statement and forego the US Mail?

It doesn't bother me one bit. Just throwing it out there as information for others.DaphneUrquhart wrote:If you email and request consolidated only, they'll drop the per donation statement.bigCasu wrote:For what its worth. Re: Yosef Giving - One Statement
For Yosef, the one thing the school statement gives you that a bank statement doesn't is the fair value of benefits or gifts you may receive for your giving level.... i.e. Your parking space, club room access, etc. All of these values should be subtracted from the total amount you give to arrive at your total charitable contribution deductible for tax purposes.bigCasu wrote:It doesn't bother me one bit.
