Road Trip!!!
I cannot take the anticipation any longer, and we are driving my wife crazy, so my son and I are adding a couple of days to our Camellia Bowl excursion and leaving Thursday on our road trip. We may stop by Athens on the way and check out UGA. We didn’t make it to App’s last football game there, but are definitely planning to be there on 9/2/17. We might stop by Stone Mountain too. Does anyone have any other suggested stops between NorthWestern N.C. and Montgomery, Alabama?
We are also adding a stop in Atlanta on the way back to watch the Falcons & 49ers on Sunday. I hope Ronald Blair has a great game on the D line. I also saw that Daniel Kilgore was injured (Leg I believe it was) Sunday in their game with the Jets. Does anyone know how he is doing?
GO MOUNTAINEERS!!

Re: Road Trip!!!
I would highly recommend the Georgia Aquarium and the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta if you have the time.

Re: Road Trip!!!
we have a lot of family that lives in the Atlanta area, and I've done everything that has been mentioned thus far. All good things. A couple things we have done and enjoyed that are not as "touristy" is touring the Mayfield Dairy and seeing a storyteller at the Wren's Nest. Foodwise, go to Fox brothers barbecue.
Not sure how old your son is, but my children enjoyed visiting and touring the Mayfield Dairy in Braselton. Something different and not as costly as other things in Atlanta. It is off of 85, NE of Atlanta.
A historic place to visit is the Wrens Nest. it is the Homeplace of former Atlanta Journal Constitution news editor Joel Chandler Harris. It is a treat to visit and hear one of their resident "Ramblers" storytell. Harris was instrumental Voice in the south for religious and racial reconciliation. His most famous works include the Tales of Unlce Remus. Stores are only told at certain times during the day. We went on a Saturday not sure what schedules would be on a weekday or Sunday.
A good place to eat is Fox Brothers barbecue. They have authentic Texas brisket that is awesome!

Re: Road Trip!!!
I would suggest purchasing your tickets to these two in advance on line as both can be subject to lines at times. You might get a discount as well. Also in the area is the Atlanta Ferris Wheel. Take a ride on that for a great view of the city. You might consider taking Marta to the game on Sunday as the construction of the new Dome has eaten up a lot of parking; if not go very early. You also might consider the world's busiest drive in restaurant, the Varsity, famous for their dogs, onion rings and frozen O's. It's on North Avenue not too far from the area you are visiting.87ASUgrad wrote:Good suggestions. Thanks. Thanks for the great suggestions for our trip. The Varsity was a fun stop and the hot dogs were great. We saw a lot if other App fans there too at the Varsity. The frozen O was the best. It tasted just like the orange creamsicle from back in the day. We also got to check out the Ferris wheel and that thing is huge. The Falcons dominated the game on Sunday and we got to see Ronald Blair at DT for the 49ers. We stayed at a hotel beside Turner Field and had supper at the Bullpen Rib House = Great ribs. Great Road Trip, especially since App won the Camellia Bowl!SpeedkingATL wrote:I would suggest purchasing your tickets to these two in advance on line as both can be subject to lines at times.
