I don't see how anyone could question Lamb's decision making after this game.

Awesome job by Lamb. And if I'm not mistaken not only did Cox break 5,000 yards (22nd back to do it), I believe he also broke 1,000 yards for the season, becoming the 1st App running back to break 1,000 all 4 years

I thought cox was 10 yds short of the 1,000 but postgame, A-dub said he cleared it.appbanker wrote:Awesome job by Lamb. Re: Stat of the game?
Limited penalties (was it really only 2?). I don't believe we had any turnovers which was great As well. 5/5 on FG and XP and a KO return for 6. Lots of positives. For negatives, I'd like to find the total for dropped passes as well because there had to be at least 6 or 7. Letman was the only receiver to actually make a play for his QB tonight. Other than that one group, was really happy with the teams performance.

During the game, I commented that there were few penalties called on anyone.
For the most part, the players policed themselves. There was a little chippiness there at the end of the first half.
I also commented how shocked I would be to see Parker Collins pushing another App player AWAY from a kerfuffle with a Toledo player.

Fortunately, I never did see that.

All of the above comments .....It was a team effort and we beat a VERY good team in a close one so I can see all the efforts as crucial.
KICK ASS!!!

Re: Stat of the game?
Several things jump out to me:
Two penalties and no turnovers. Our focus here was spot on compared to our regular season.
297 yards rushing and controlling time of possession. It's what we do!
Special teams with a touchdown.
Defense holding them to well below their per game yardage.
Some things that might have made us even better: defense gave up several big plays which kept them in the game; wide receivers with quite a few drops; I think we could have run more outside.
Them only going to their tight end twice and their decisions right before their missed field goal were interesting.
Games ebb and flow depending on what each team is able to accomplish or not accomplish. Momentum changes. I give Toledo credit that they never let us get out of reach and kept themselves in the game. In the end, Taylor Lamb was the difference in this game. His toughness and gritty play was exactly what we needed. During the year, I have constructively critiqued some of Taylors efforts, but I have never questioned his desire or toughness and I have never thought he needed to be benched. He is a Mountaineer through and through.
This was a great game to watch.

I have to believe this is the true stat of the game. Can't remember a time we were this error free.goapps93 wrote:2 penalties for 21 yards. Record?

Re: Stat of the game?
Only 2 penalties for 21 yards is maybe THE biggest stat of the game. I agree that Taylor's 9 rushes for 126 yards and a TD is probably a close 2nd. 0 turnovers would be bigger if Toledo hadn't matched that mark (I tend not to count turnovers on downs, especially missed field goals, although that really was the game winner, so, in a very long run on sentence, I've just talked myself into a circle). . . .
