Toledo Week 4 @ BYU
Watch this game, Toledo lost 55-53 on the road in Utah on a Friday night. Might show us something we need to know. Fun to watch at least. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoyhaZItWKw

Other than that, they looked good, fast, & big.
Should be a good football game in Montgomery. We need to get more pressure on their QB than BYU did. Blitz.

This will be dialed up on the TV tonight, I am going to watch the entire game. I will post others as they played Akron and Ohio, in common teams. They played Ark State as well. I am stoked about this game, I think that we have a faster more aggressive D then they have played. Akron played Toledo in week 10. Toledo beat the Zips 48-17.AppAlum1 wrote:They scored 53 points, AND LOST???

The QB gets rid of the ball quickly. A lot of underneath stuff....possessions passes against soft coverage. Uses the TE a fair amount. Fast durable RB (Hunt) )hits holes quickly. Defense nothing to write home about but they win with big scores.

This is the one type of offense our defense has really struggled against so far this year. Hopefully with 2ish weeks to prepare our guys will be ready to go and combat their offensive attackRekdiver wrote:The QB gets rid of the ball quickly. After watching this, we have a challenge on our hands this weekend. My advice to all, Figure out a way to get to the game, be loud and proud we are playing such a capable opponent. This is shaping up to be a Saturday Slugfest! Rise up App Nation! Be the difference....See you in Montgomery.

I watched a bit of this game on Saturday when I stumbled upon the Joseph Smith Network. Those Rocket receivers are good. Jones has his work cut out for him.

Re: Toledo Week 4 @ BYU
I did watch it as I made earlier comments.....the bend but dont break pass defense will get us killed. The Toledo O line is solid and allowed very few sacks. (Unlike the Panthers) the coaches designed a game plan to use short midrange passes to fast receivers. Gameplan for us is keep their offense off the field with long sustained drives. Not sure we will get any pressure on the QB even with stunts. every time BYU tried the QB hit an underneath receiver. Press receivers at the line and pray we can get pressure with front.

I'll also add that video shows Toledo is big and fast.i would be interested to see how 3-4 defenses they ran up against and how did they fare? Our linebackers could present a problem for their style.

This is a game we are going to have to be very efficient on offense. We may need to score every time we have the ball, we will need to eat up clock/limit their possessions, and we can't have drive ending penalties or turnovers. Will be interesting to see how our defense plays and how/if we can stop them. Need to dial up the Ohio game to see how they lost where the game wasn't necessarily a shootout.

Will definitely need that "total game" we have yet to see this season, hopefully we're saving it for the Bowl.

Do huh?sixtoes9134 wrote:Ohio's D is stout.
Not sure what you mean. Do you mean Ohio played Toledo tough due to their tough D? Ohio is one of three losses that Toledo has.
Or, do you mean Ohio was tough at the Camellia Bowl last year, because of their tough D?
Or, do you incorrectly reference Toledo as Ohio?
Or, ... I could go on.
Care to clarify?

Re: Toledo Week 4 @ BYU
In looking at the stat lines from their three losses, they lost the turnover battles in all three. They outgained BYU and Ohio. Don't think they would have beaten Western Michigan anyway. This is a good team that can light up the machine, but they can be beaten.
Watching their running back, there won't be any arm tackling. He will run through it.
