Here's 1 reason why the opponent is more important than the site
SI.com has ranked all 40 bowls on match-up and watch-ability --- APP vs. Toledo is one of only 6 bowl games that got their coveted 5 FOOTBALL rating (as in 5-Star)
Raycom Media Camellia Bowl: Appalachian State vs. Toledo (Dec. 17, 5:30 p.m. ET, ESPN): Toledo was one of the Group of Five’s most exciting programs under new head coach Jason Candle, posting just under 40 points per game (good for 19th in the nation) and playing frequently entertaining games. Appalachian State should have beat Tennessee in its season opener and posted an excellent 9–3 season under promising head coach Scott Satterfield. For bowl season, this is a superb matchup.

Offense sells tickets but defense wins championships. This should be a good matchup of strength on strength.

Definitely getting real tired of Toledo being the top story over App State. Yeah they had a good season but we've kicked ass pretty much every season the last 11 years with the exception of 2013 and when we're firing on all cylinders it damn near impossible to stop us, but almost every article I've read has had us as a footnote, or the obligatory "and App State is who juggernaut Toledo will be playing"

Thread title assumes that one places importance on lists like this one.

Gee - and I thought there was interest in how much publicity APP gets in the national press ---EastHallApp wrote:Thread title assumes that one places importance on lists like this one.

Yes, we should have beat(en) them!
Looking forward to seeing how we stack up with Toledo. Exciting matchup!

Toledo is going to score points, but their secondary can be beaten. Lamb and our WR need to have their best game of the year Saturday to win and our dline must get to their QB.
I'm afraid their line play may be better than ours so I know Woody will be creative.

We are better at RB (depth), LB, and DB. They are better at QB, WR, TE, and probably starting DL (I do think we're deeper at DL), and I'd say OL is a push to slight lean Toledo.
I'd give their K an edge in FGs over 40 yards, and our punter is slightly better.
These guys are good in the redzone as well, 72% TDs.
This game is decided by 2-3 plays (as it should be).

I've got another reason and validation for this Bowl. Listening to ESPN radio and I've heard the spots for the Bowls next weekend being played on the Mother Ship and of course there's no mention of the Cure Bowl- understandably it's not being played this weekend but we keep getting mentioned and that's a good thing.

Re: Here's 1 reason why the opponent is more important than the site
Interesting thing I read in an article from one of the Toledo papers. They mentioned that the MAC bowls rotate who gets first pick, and this year was the Camellia. The Camellia committee was exited when App was still available for them at the 3rd pick and they could pair us with Toledo.
