Conference USA?

Anyone still upset we got "snubbed" by that crappy conference? We stomped ODU and they go 9-3 and apparently are headed to the Bahamas for their bowl game.

I know this to be true among my friends that went there. I was in the High Country with two of them one weekend and I skipped the Saturday fishing to go to the APP game. They were horrified that I gave up a day of fishing to go to a football game.
Ummm...what are you implying Rekdiver? I and many of my geeky cool App accounting grads are faithful football attendees, and some of us even bring dates to the games.Rekdiver wrote:Accountants?CVAPP wrote:I would assume it's safe to say the vast majority of Charlotte alums don't care about football or they would have not have attended a school that did not have a football team. Whoa, whoa, whoa, back the Accountants train up! I would never give up an App football game for fishing or counting money.Rekdiver wrote:Accountants?CVAPP wrote:I would assume it's safe to say the vast majority of Charlotte alums don't care about football or they would have not have attended a school that did not have a football team. We're kind of like the zombies in The Walking Dead, easy to handle when it's just one or two of them...but if they herd up on you you're in big trouble.appst89 wrote:There are quite a few of us accountants on the MMB. Not that we are any more threatening in large groups, just seem to be a lot of us here.
Perhaps future bowl alignments will improve for the SBC, we (the SBC) need to keep improving against peer conferences and start knocking off some P5s regularly.Gonzo wrote:CUSA is inferior to the SBC in football strength for two years running now and their new TV deal turned to ashes in their hands, but this time of year I really wish we had their bowl tie-ins.
The 2016 App State Mountaineers would win CUSA going away. CUSA bowlers can get a stab an an SEC, ACC, or B1G team in the post season. WKU (champ) played USF in the Miami Beach Bowl last year.
We are in a better football conference, but there are a few things from the old CUSA hanging around that are still pretty sparkly.
I almost hate to say this because it kind of cheapens our win over them, but the fact that ODU went 9-3 shows how awful that league is. They played three decent teams (us, NCSU and WKU - none anywhere near the top 25) and got blown out by all three. Best team they beat was... I guess we have to kick Arkansas State out then.Rick83 wrote:Perhaps future bowl alignments will improve for the SBC, we (the SBC) need to keep improving against peer conferences and start knocking off some P5s regularly.Gonzo wrote:CUSA is inferior to the SBC in football strength for two years running now and their new TV deal turned to ashes in their hands, but this time of year I really wish we had their bowl tie-ins.

Seriously! One of their fans posted and complained that their coach treats out of conference games like pre-season games...don't know if that's true but they have got to step up their OOC game for sure.Gonzo wrote:I guess we have to kick Arkansas State out then.Rick83 wrote:Perhaps future bowl alignments will improve for the SBC, we (the SBC) need to keep improving against peer conferences and start knocking off some P5s regularly.Gonzo wrote:CUSA is inferior to the SBC in football strength for two years running now and their new TV deal turned to ashes in their hands, but this time of year I really wish we had their bowl tie-ins.

Oh OK, Don't think in my long accounting career in NC that I've ever met a UNCC accountant...really didn't know they existed.Rekdiver wrote:There is a difference between UNCC accountants and App accountants and my bad for not clarifying further
He said that a couple times. Personally I think they've adopted that theory because they find it more palatable than "we keep getting out butts kicked."Rick83 wrote:Seriously! They have a plan in place to grab quick cash then hope to run the table and snatch a sweet bowl bid with a superb 7-5 recordEastHallApp wrote:He said that a couple times.
