Still a shot ---

Unread post by WVAPPeer » Sun Nov 13, 2016 9:21 am

All of us are bummed to not have a shot at an 8-0 record - HOWEVER, there is still a shot at a SunBelt championship - Troy or Ark St is going to lose on Thursday night and then I believe both have 2 more games after that - Who knows??? - I'm sure the Holes didn't expect VT to lose at home to GT - nobody expected Clemson to lose at home to Pitt - Ohio State didn't expect Michigan to lose at Iowa - nobody in the PAC12 expected Washington to lose at home - SEC fans didn't think Auburn would lose to UGA --- We weren't going to the top 2 SB bowls anyway - Troy is 4 hours from NO, about 2 from Mobile - Ark St is about 6 hours away and Boone is a day and a half - I hate all these pre-set bowls, not just the SB tie-ins, but money rules and we all know where we stand in that regard - Our guys will win their final 2 games and we'll see how the others do - If one wins out my hat is off to them ---

I'm hoping for Troy to destroy A-state and then GaSou to beat Troy. To bad the eagles aren't super strong this year

I don't believe Troy will lose any conference games. Only other way of having a share of the crown, in addition to boonetown1's thought is, A-state to beat Troy and LaLa beating A-state. Nevertheless, in reality more than likely we will finish 2nd place and go bowling two years in a row, not too bad for a team in their 3rd year of transition. Finish strong!!

Yep - but as I mentioned in the first post - nobody believed those teams would lose yesterday either - I agree that what APP has done in such a short period of time is amazing AND we are still a youngish team with really good underclassmen on the way ---

Well, here's hoping for the best, cheers! Either way, in the end there's nothing to hang our heads over. We're going bowling again! Finish Strong!

If we aren't going to win, I am pulling hard for Troy. I do NOT want Arkansas State to win a share of the title. Both teams have three games remaining (including each other next week). Both teams have Tx State on the schedule and neither will lose that one. The only hope we have is for Georgia Southern to beat Troy and for Louisiana Lafayette to beat Arkansas State (which could happen as ULL is slightly improving and it is a rivalry game....Ark State is VERY capable of shooting themselves in the foot).

It is frustrating to lose a game like that yesterday but it helps me to remember that we are WAY ahead of where ANYBODY thought we would be at this point in our FBS development.

GO APPS!

I'm pulling for Troy Thursday night. It would be nice to share the title, but Troy has proven to be the best team in the league, and I wish them the best of luck going forward. I really don't want Arkansas State running the table in the league and choking again in a bowl against OOC competition.

If Troy beats us, you guys will go to Mobile. There are decent odds that Toledo is the MAC rep in Mobile this year, and no one wants that rematch anywhere in America.

Now, if we beat Troy and torture the SBC Yet again because our coach equates OOC Play to the preseason, then we'll likely go Nola and you'll end up in Montgomery again.

Honestly, I think you guys are better off rooting for us to beat Troy and ULL to beat us. Georgia Southern isn't beating anyone right now as big of a mess as they are, and we never play well in Lafayette.

I guess he treats bowl games as preseason as well.

The conference needs Troy to represent it as the champion. Even if all that happens we still don't go to NOLA.

He claims he doesn't, but he probably does.

Anderson is not a very popular person in Jonesboro right now. But we're here because there are certain Sun Belt teams that are still intimidated by us. That and Georgia Southern's inability to properly run the option, or their inability to tackle a QB on 4th and 16.

Make no mistake, we may enjoy winning the league because of the misery it causes others, but no one in Jonesboro is happy about the way this season has unfolded, except probably our coaching staff who has saved their jobs. We'd have to win out AND win the bowl to even make this a decent season in my mind.

Well then root for Troy or Ark St to finish undefeated --- a shared title is worlds ahead of a 2nd place finish ---

Should be a good game Thursday night. I believe Troy is the most complete team in the Belt. However, it is a quick turn around after an emotional win against us. I wouldn't sell StAte short. They are playing with a lot of confidence and haven't dropped a conference game since 2014.

Troy just got ranked 25th, which tells me the pollsters respect our program as well. A mentally prepared Troy beats Ark St, but I predict it's going to be an ugly game, like most Ark St game are.

Troy better hope they don't fall into that trap we fell into last year. 3 straight home games culminated in a TH night game against Ark St that was preceded by a hard fought game with us

A shared title is wonderful 20 years down the road, right now it means next to nothing.

Means a hell of a lot to the men wearing the uniforms.

It would mean alot more if they had played both teams and split the games. Playing 1 and losing to them it doesn't mean as much. Once we have the conference title this will be avoided.
