App vs. Texas State Experience

Unread post by pottswvu1988 » Sat Nov 12, 2016 1:54 am

What a great weekend in Boone! Here is a recap of our trip:

My wife decided to come along, so we canceled our flight and drove. We left at 4am and arrived in Boone around 11am. Actually, the drive was really nice. We parked in the parking deck on Rivers Street (thanks to our free pass!) and then headed downtown. We walked through campus and around the different shops. We didn't make any tailgates unfortunately because we wanted to get into the game by 3:30pm. I left my daughter and my wife sit in the great seats that were sent to me. These seats gave them a perfect view of the marching band! I got a ticket in the upper deck and I also had a really nice view. We loved the views of the mountains from the seats.

On Sunday, we drove the Blue Ridge Parkway and walked the Cascades Trail. It was such an amazing drive and hike. We then headed to Blowing Rock to enjoy the restaurants and shops. We finished up by heading back to Boone to walk around the campus some more.

Monday was our seminar at the student union. Cassady got to visit the Honors College and the Watauga Residential College. She liked the Honors Program, but loved Watauga. Everyone treated us so nice!

I have a feeling that App will be her choice. She is a little worried about the 7 hour drive, but I don't think that the drive will be the deciding factor.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your view of the Boone area. I am praying that she becomes a Mountaineer instead of a Nittany Lion!

Glad you enjoyed it. I understand your daughter's concern about the drive. It was 5 hours for me to come home. That to me is the biggest thing, especially if she wants the ability to come home more than just scheduled school breaks.

It sounds like you had a great time, and enjoyed our beautiful campus. Stay in touch with me. When the schedule comes out, plan a game/trip and I will hook it up for you again. I enjoy helping to bring people to Boone.

While a student I drove up to the Cascades in the middle of winter. The falls was frozen over. Beautiful sight I never was able to to find in the same frozen state since then.
