Re: At Least one poll/ranking has us Top 25
I've come to the conclusion that Troy fans are overestimating their game against Clemson and that is why they think more highly of themselves. I've watched them play their last 2 games and they are not what they're hyped to be

Troy's P5 loss is a better loss than ours. Tennessee and Miami have been a bust. However, our all around strength of schedule is better than Troy's, so I completely agree with us getting the nod. It will be one hell of a game in two weeks.

Troy has not seen a D like ours with the exception of Clemson. I like our chances.....a lot.

Yes but we actually had a real chance to beat UT. Troy played well at Clemson but scored a last-minute TD to make it look closer than it really was. Also that wasn't the only time Clemson has played down to their competition this year (see NC State)./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:Troy's P5 loss is a better loss than ours. I'm just trying to compare L's by each team, based off the victors current record and where they stand in the big picture. If Tennessee and Miami were doing better, our P5 L's would be more appealing (As appealing as a loss could get). I'm thinking another 10-2 season. Hope I am right.EastHallApp wrote:Yes but we actually had a real chance to beat UT. Troy played well at Clemson but scored a last-minute TD to make it look closer than it really was. Part of me wants Western Michigan to slip in the polls to create a possible match up between us in a bowl game.

I think what also helps us get votes is the fact that more voters have potentially seen our games. As of Thursday night, we've played 6 games on TV, with 4 coming in some kind of primetime slot. Troy has had zero

I believe their game with Clemson was nationally televised (or at least on the ACC network) as I watched it from my perch at the top of 206 but outside of that everything else has been ESPN3.mtnjax wrote:I think what also helps us get votes is the fact that more voters have potentially seen our games. I beg to differ.....I think Troy is the team in Sunbelt. On a normal day it's going to take our A game to beat them. On offense they are much more talented than us. I think the OLines in this match up will tell the tape. Chunn is a stud RB and Silvers can throw when he is on and has time and their Receivers are big and fast and run good routes.mtnjax wrote:I've come to the conclusion that Troy fans are overestimating their game against Clemson and that is why they think more highly of themselves. If our front four can consistently apply pressure and OLine gets better with snaps and penalties I think we can beat them.......but by no means DONT underestimate TROY.....they are for real if you've watched some of their best play.
To me they should be favored against us not other way around.
KICK ASS!!!

There is plenty of NFL caliber talent on the Troy squad. If we have stellar play and intangibles go in our favor and they have down day I may look like an idiot and hope I do......but Troy has some talent.

Yeah it's one game at a time and we can't overlook Texas State as they are NEXT.
But on paper only no way am I gonna let someone say Troy is not that great which was the topic.

Re: At Least one poll/ranking has us Top 25
The ranking that has us in the top 25 is S&P+, which is an advanced statistical metric, not a poll. TV exposure not a factor.mtnjax wrote:I think what also helps us get votes is the fact that more voters have potentially seen our games. Re: At Least one poll/ranking has us Top 25
FWIW, we're slightly ahead of Troy in Sagarin, FPI and the aforementioned S&P+. Doesn't mean we'll beat them, but you don't have to be a homer to think we're better than them.
