Re: Recruiting, 2014
I wanted to jump ahead of this before someone else posted it. Mike from 24/7 and I saw this a few days ago on Eaton's Scout profile but there was nothing at all on twitter and this was before he posted the three # school names and before he went to Temple. Nothing has changed tonight on twitter and if it was true twitter would be blowing up just like it was the last time. Just looks like someone else finally saw it and it's not been changed. But someone will see this so I thought I should post it first.
Walter Thornton @waldoradio ·
Per scout, com. Goula WR Matt Eaton commits to Appalachian State
As far as we know this is an error on his Scout profile. Rivals, 24/7, and ESPN have nothing. And nothing from the staff at all. Scout is not a reliable on the Go5 schools as they are on the P5.
Also looks like the mystery RB from this weekend might be RB Jalin Moore (5' 11" 190) of Crest High School in Shelby, NC. I'm working on a page for him with video right now.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Some App fans are starting to re-tweet that post. I was afraid it was going to happen. Eaton needs to get Scout to update his profile.
In other news:
RB Jalin Moore (5' 11" 190) of Crest High School in Shelby, NC has been added to the Considering section of the Main Page and a player page with video has been added.

From the sound of things, Eaton had a good visit to Temple and seemed really impressed. I guess this one will go down to the wire. I say the odds are not in our favor.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
With the tweets I see from hisTemple visit I'm betting its Temple..... But family will rarely see him play. They will always be average team and average less fans that us over 5 years by 3 k a year. We draw more than them and Ark State.
But he seems to like the big city and a bunch of women are now tweeting w him about it. The AAC play a decent schedule.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
How many WR's has Temple put in the nFL recently?
That answer should lead him where to go....if not good luck to him...APP will be good with him and good without him....i hope he makes the right choice.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Man, not sure I get the appeal of Temple. Farther from home, still non P5, one of the worst FBS programs in the country for decades. Pretty much the only selling point I could see is if you just really prefer to go to college in a big city. Or I guess if you like playing your home games in a mostly empty NFL stadium...

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Obviously if he's considering Temple, it's not for football reasons. Think about why most kids choose a college- location, girls, etc. I know that majors offered and academic rigors were not at the top of my list as a senior in HS (right or wrong). I can see why an 18 y/o would be enamored by the big city, especially since he's coming form Miss. We'll see how he feels after a couple days

Re: Recruiting, 2014
That's all true but there is one additional thing with him. Eaton is from VA originally (Norfolk) and is from a military family (father Navy from all reports). He has lived all over the country, including California. One of the reasons he said that playing far from MS wasn't a problem because his family might not be there when he's done with college anyway. Might not be a case of a small town boy enamored with the city but one who has lived in one before wanting to go back. But honestly who knows right now. Two more days and then we'll know.HeffnerIV wrote:Obviously if he's considering Temple, it's not for football reasons. Saw on Twitter earlier that Chandler Greer will be signing his LOI at 8 AM Wednesday morning.
I am personally watching to see when others say they plan to fax their LOI's.

Eaton has a sister living in Philly. Said visit was good and he was excited about what was going on there. Looking like Temple will be it.

“I've been doing a lot of research and thinking and praying about it,” Eaton said. “That visit (to Temple) really changed my whole outlook on recruiting and schools.”
Eaton has a sister who lives in Philadelphia and he said Monday that enjoyed the big city environment.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I went to college in philly. Love Big 5 basketball but Temple football is like high school in comparison. Temple is a city school in the projects of north philly and has a good student body and decent academics but playing football at Temple with Penn State and Rutgers in the Big 10 is B league ....I hope he sees how App is a Football town.
Re: Recruiting, 2014
Im starting to believe that Eaton really, really has enjoyed the attention he has got during the recruiting season, I think he is milking it to the very end. He is a very good player and I would love to have him, but if he signs with someone else, we will be just fine. As far as Temple, man, I hope he enjoys playing in front of 15 thousand indifferent fans, in a city that could care less about Temple football, and getting their asses kicked week, after week, after week, happy trails Mr. Eaton, happy trails.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I understand his sister may live there but still what is appealing about playing in front of 10-15,000 people on average NFL stadium? They have consistently been one of the 10 worst FBS programs going back a long while. It is one thing if it is Rutgers, Cincinnati, or Vanderbilt but I will not be happy to lose a guy to Temple for football.
The only good of him going to Temple is that if we do not get him, stAte does not get him either.

I really liked what Junior Sigalo shows on tape. He is a hard hitting guy and he is all over the field as a ball-hawking safety. I feel he could be a real steal for this staff. He had offers from Indiana and Troy plus heavy interest from Syracuse.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Temple has 10 undergrad WRs and most ore Sophs or Rs freshmen. They have 4 WR commits in this class and 1 is 6 4 and 190.. A Little crowded there.
