Who knows if all the surprises will be bad? Obviously we seem to be mostly focused on holding onto our own commits, but who's to say the staff couldn't be quietly working on flipping one or two from somewhere else?
At least with most of the guys we've either lost or who are looking around, we're competing with higher-profile schools rather than conference rivals (Eaton being the obvious exception, if you want to call being committed <1 day a decommitment). Meanwhile we've already poached two from GSU.
You are correct. Walton committed to IU this morning.
Walton supposedly committed to Indiana yesterday.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I do think we also offered Latrell Gibbs (who I believe is a Appalachian commit), though I don't think we ever got him to even visit.
Other than Gibbs and Lewis, I'm not familiar with any of the other commits on the App 24/7 list. Kind of different as we used to go head-to-head more often in the recent past.
I expect that might be the case next year. I attribute this year to a little bit of unique circumstances. Certainly, our coaching change has a lot to do with it but due to some of our class needs and the transition we've put a bigger emphasis this year on finding some JUCO talent whereas in the past we may have relied a little bit more on FBS transfers to fill that experience role.

Hadn't heard that, though of course we knew it was a possibility. Sucks for us, but my point still stands, I think.Eagle22 wrote:Lewis & Walton ?EastHallApp wrote:Meanwhile we've already poached two from GSU.

That's okay cause I sure ain't pulling for the dirty birds. But you didn't have stuff thrown at you in the stadium. My experience with Falcon fans is they are still miffed about the treatment we gave Ron Mexico and unlike Philly where fans will hit you for just wearing an opposing teams jersey my guess if any Panthers fan that would throw something at a falcons fan was responding to the years of insults we endured. My wish is we would make the stadium more uncomfortable for opposing fans short of physical harm.AtlantaMountaineer wrote:Funny. I became a Carolina Panthers hater years ago when I attended a Falcons/Panther game and was pushed, shoved, cursed and had beer bottles thrown at me while just entering and exiting the stadium. I was sitting in the cheap seats and have been back and sat in other sections where I was treated just fine. But still can't pull for the Panthers to this day.Rekdiver wrote:I will but they will still throw stuff at you.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Sorry everyone but once again my internet has been dropping in and out since last night. The Walton de-commit was announced this morning. I caught it but then couldn't post it.
It's being reported that both visitors from yesterday committed this morning. Have a message in to confirm but Rivals is saying the same thing. I will wait until I get confirmation to move them to the commits section, provided I still have internet.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Even at the bottom of the Big 10 Indiana has 23 DB's on the current roster (13 Safeties and 10 CB's with three Sr's-all CB's) plus had 5 commits before Walton (3 CB's and 2 Safeties, all higher rated). With Walton that makes 29 for this season and only losing three. 26 for next year and I doubt they don't recruit any other DB's for 2015. Will be interesting to see when/if Walton sees the field.Rekdiver wrote:IU is the Western Carolina of the Big 10…..you gotta love corn and basketball to go there...can't figure that one out....

Re: Recruiting, 2014
It's confirmed. Both of the official visitors from yesterday have committed. I will be moving the up to the Commits section of the Main Page. Gives us 25 for the class as of right now. We're still waiting for an official decision from WR Shaedon Meadors. I also still think we have a couple of surprises come signing day.

I was hoping we'd offer kicker Jarrett Cervi of Raleigh but I see that he committed to Old Dominion today.

Me too but they've held firm that, after Wells, they were not going to offer a PK/P. He will be a pretty good one I'm betting but there will be more.AppGrad78 wrote:I was hoping we'd offer kicker Jarrett Cervi of Raleigh but I see that he committed to Old Dominion today.

After looking at all the film on the dbs, I really like Sigalo. he's very physical may not be as fast as Walton (although tough to tell speed on video ). And even tho not many offers a good get regardless.

Also, when u mention some surprises... Which positions are u talking about? (I know you can't be very specific to honor your sources)?
Thanks!

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I know Indiana is a Big 10 school, but I really didn't think Walton would switch. Considering they are a basketball school, rarely get over .500, and their depth in the secondary it doesn't seem like a good move. It is a good school in a P5 conference so I guess that's all that matters to some kids. Walton's comments to another player after decommitting are a little ironic now.

Plus as of this minute.....we have 8 folks on an NFL roster....and Indiana of the Big10 have 7.....JTApps1 wrote:I know Indiana is a Big 10 school, but I really didn't think Walton would switch. I'm sure that number includes WOs, though. The more relevant question isn't how many, it's how good are they?firemoose wrote:

If Walton isn't good enough to start for Indiana at some point in his career, then he probably isn't that big a loss for App.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I wish I could find a silver lining for Walton's loss but I can't. I predict he will be in the NFL in about four years.
Still, the two new safeties look like slobber-knockers.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
If it makes any of you guys feel better, Sigalo also had an offer from IU and was getting interest from Syracuse, so i think this is a good pickup for us
Re: Recruiting, 2014
I used to think it was totally ridiculous all the money FBS coaches were paid, but
now see why a lot more. Looks like almost 365 recruiting, excitement and major
let down. I don't know that I could handle it.

Yeah but they don't have to get angry about the comments made on this site!
The recruiting wait is like waiting to see what Santa leaves under the tree... If I wasn't recovering from surgery(minor) that gave me access to pain killers I might just go bonkers waiting.
