Re: Recruiting, 2015
The football video staff runs the recruiting site (with the help of an agency). This past season they transitioned to new software and replaced the long-time coordinator. I really don't think some shortage of photos that make the crowd look good are the reason for the old logo still being on the site.
It's a loooooong off season

I was only at Campbell and USA, but there were thousands empty at both for sure. Didn't mean to start an argument; I thought the attendance issues this year were pretty well documented.asutrnr81 wrote:Maybe I missed that game....those games....except for Idaho I did not see 1000 (s) of empty seats. ......
oh I almost forgot......I did not miss any games.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Those aren't the only ones on the board. Not even the recruiting sites have all the names that have been offered. Last year, at the signing day presser, the staff talked about how many offers were put out. I was the closest to the number and I was still about 20 offers off just on the total count. And there is no way to know how many of the offers I had listed were actual offers or were just people padding their sheets. That's why I always post an offer as a reported offer. No one on the recruiting sites confirms all the offers, only commits. There are just too many to try and do that. And they are media people with access to the staff. I'm just a poor mountain man with a computer and a passion for investigation. I try very hard to get as many of them as I can and to get as many as I can correct but keep in mind that it's mostly based on research, deduction, working with the guys on the recruiting sites, and a little SWAGing thrown in for good measure.TheMackAttack wrote:I'm not too concerned about poaching by Georgia Southern to be honest. Fortune is the only guy they offered I could see flipping, and I think he only flips for a P5.
I'm more concerned about filling the ~7 scholarships we have left. I don't think there's a lot of quality options left on our board. I like Adams, Stewart, Roth, Howell, Thompson, Papenheim, and Belton as our top targets, but who comes after that if we miss a few of these guys?

I think the recruiting dead period ends Wednesday Jan. 14th at midnight. I could be wrong on the 12 a.m. though.

Looks like an official visit from Ephraim Kitchen is coming up. He's from Mississippi and looks to be very good. 3 star guy at cornerback.

You wouldn't believe how many GSU fans are tweeting to kitchen. As bad as this sounds we need more of a presence on Twitter.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly what I was referring to in my last post. While I had him in my personal notes as having seen a reference to App sometime in the past year Mr Kitchen Jr was not even on the Main Page in the Considering section because no site, until today, had him listed even as an interest in App, much less an offer. He was a La Tech commit until Dec 19th (ESPN and Rivals still list him as such), ESPN, Scout, and MaxPreps have his last name as Kitchens, and only hudl shows him with the Jr. I'm going by what hudl has listed for now. And now to my usual listing.
From internet reports DB Ephraim Kitchen Jr (5′ 11″ 177) of South Panola High School in Batesville, MS has received a reported offer from App. A player page with video has been added to the Main Page. The Rivals 2 star, ESPN and 24/7 3 star CB is showing additional reported offers from Central Arkansas, Ga. Sou, La Tech, UL-L, UL-M, Memphis, South Alabama, Southern Miss, and Troy. Rivals shows him with additional reported offers from Auburn and Miss. St. As noted above he is planning on taking an official visit to App on Jan 30th.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Unfortunately, as has been pointed out many times, this is an NCAA violation. Everybody does it, especially P5 fans. But eventually they will put the hammer down and when it falls it won't be one of them, it will be one of us. As I said last year it will take some time before the NCAA has enough people to enforce the rules as far as social media goes. It's caught many people off guard how quickly twitter, instagram, and the others have exploded in the recruiting area but, as we saw last year, many schools are now issuing warnings to fans not to post to recruits. We'll just have to see where it goes but one of these days someone is going to get taken down. And it's going to sting.boonetown1 wrote:You wouldn't believe how many GSU fans are tweeting to kitchen. How quickly can we expect things to pick up? Isn't today the last dead period day?

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Just wanted to let everyone know I'm working with Mike over at 24/7 on a list of visitors for this weekend. I have several already known but we're waiting until tomorrow to post anything so we can make sure we catch as many late adds as possible. Looks like quite a few of our commits will be here this weekend. By my count right now all but three but that could change between now and Friday. Also I'll be watching the net all the way until Sat to see anybody we don't have talking about a visit and will add them as they come up.
Looks like we're catching a break on the weather as Sat especially looks about as good as a Jan weekend in Boone can. While I usually want the top uncommitted targets to take one of the lasts visits so App will be freshest on their minds hopefully we get quite a few in this weekend with the bright blue sky as a backdrop to our campus. I'll be updating often as we're in the home stretch.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
I understand if you don't want to jump the gun but is Obe Fortune currently slated to visit? I'm very worried about him. He is still posting his highlight videos around and makes no reference of his commitment on any social media.firemoose wrote:Just wanted to let everyone know I'm working with Mike over at 24/7 on a list of visitors for this weekend. Re: Recruiting, 2015
He's been here twice before on unofficial visits and some places are showing him as coming in this weekend for his official. It would be better, if the number of commits is correct, for him to come with them as it gives all of them a chance to bond with their fellow commits. I just want to make sure it's this weekend and we'll know soon enough.crossza wrote:

I like that we have this many commits visiting. This is a great opportunity for them to hang out and strengthen their commitments, assuming they all get along well.firemoose wrote:Below is the list of commits that are reported to be coming for this weekend.
