Re: UNC game discussion
2 pt was a no Brainer. Bryce rushed the throw for sure, but #17 should've never turned like that, no WR coach would ever endorse that. It's all good. Need to sure up our secondary (Nick Ross has fallen off huge), and we are missing DiMarco massively. I liked the team tackling on defense, WRs are suspect, but love the OC. Stay aggressive at all costs moving forward and hope our defense can get it together at some point this year.

3 yards to win the game - DAMN straight I would go for the win right then - especially in a game where we couldn't stop them - perfect call, perfect execution, missed by a few inches ---

He sure isn't the washed up old has-been that he was called on this board. I don't get the ridicule.
He brought us Sparky Woods and as a result John Settle who was definitely one of the greatest Running Backs in Appalachian football history.
But he did look silly fat in that outfit. He wasn't fat when he was at App.

Re: UNC game discussion
APPsolutely the right call to go for 2, just did not execute. Great ballgame from an entertainment standpoint! App fans and UNC fans in my section were all smiling.
The D is a work in progress and hopefully they improve moving forward. Missed FG haunts App again. UNC just made more plays, especially in the 2nd qtr. Maye is a legit QB and made some fantastic throws. For all the star recruits UNC has got over the past few years, their D is atrocious.

The FG was 51 yd - it would have great - but odds on a 51 yd are not good

I am exhausted.
I really hope we can grow out of disappearing like we did in the 2nd and 3rd. That's been our Achilles heel

Tough loss but what a great game. This team kept fighting. 2 point call was the way to go. Just gotta execute.

Re: UNC game discussion
Did not read the thread, but the first 2 pt conversion was in Davis -- Not Brice. If he followed his upfield shoulder like he's been taught since the first time he ever played WR, the pass is perfect. Instead, he started back pedaling.
The second one was in Brice. Seemingly same play, still wide open, and he took it himself. Don't know the play call and have not watched film yet to confirm, but looked like he made the right call to pull it from Peoples.

2 point conversion was absolutely the right call. In Coach Clark I Trust!! I want a coach that wants to win when you believe you have right play in your pocket.

Should have had Alexander Julian design it for him.

40,168 in the Brew. Holy @#$&. Lady's and gentlemen all things considered that was one hell of a way to start the season. We can all digest tonight and dissect tomorrow. We've got a good season ahead of us!

Re: UNC game discussion
Agree with many that going for 2 was the right call (I said it before we scored). Our defense wasn’t stopping Maye from the 25 in OT, and wasn’t stopping them from the 2 or wherever it is in the subsequent OTs. We were aggressive and went for the win. That’s what I want to see.
Our defense has a lot of work to do, but I think Maye might be the best QB we see this year. He made the right decisions the entire game. And their TEs absolutely are our lunch today.

Bro! Me and a buddy who came to watch the game couldn't get over how Mack looked in the sweatshirt. I kept calling him Big Mack like I was an obnoxious teen, but his belly was bigger than the OLs standing behind him

Re: UNC game discussion
Exactly. Bryce rushed the throw, but that's not an issue if #17 isn't out of position. That's one of the first things I coach kids out of in peewee/flag. You said it perfectly.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 4:37 pmDid not read the thread, but the first 2 pt conversion was in Davis -- Not Brice. Re: UNC game discussion
I thought our secondary played poorly, but many of the throws Drake made were with pretty good coverage, the throws were just better. He's got a bright future.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 4:48 pmAgree with many that going for 2 was the right call (I said it before we scored). Re: UNC game discussion
I will respectfully disagree. From viewing in the NEZ, there were multiple WRs open on many plays. Maye just went to his first open read.

Somehow, 40 points in a quarter isn’t a record for modern D1 college football.
