Markeyvious Adams--UnCommitted...said to be leaning to 1-10-15 commitment at an allstar game.
WR Adonis Lee committed to GW.....what....GW over AppState or did we cool on this kid?
Jordan Carswell committed to UNCC....What....
Vaquan Small UnCommitted but said to be warm on syracuse...has not been recruited until recently by anyone other than us at BCS level. Hey News Flash Syracuse is dang cold!...
Brad Stewart..App Offered Brad prior to "The catch" No one else has followed up but this kids must have had a great year in HS as he was the 146th ranked recruit in GA.
Adams might not commit so early. He stated in an article to one of the recruiting sites just 3 days ago that he was going to take it down to signing day. Might be a smoke screen but since he's hoping for P5 offers I would not be surprised if he waits, which is not good news for us since he is at the top of our wish list and we won't have a lot of time to find an uncommitted backup if it comes down to the 4th. My guess is if he picks up a local P5 offer he'll commit right away. If not he'll wait until the last minute.

As for Lee-It is surprising that he picked GW over the offers he had. Did so back on Dec 18th even though most sites still have him uncommitted. Still doing a little digging on that one.

Carswell is up in the air as he was committed to UNCC out of high school last year but chose to go to Gray Military Academy/Palmetto Prep in West Columbia, SC instead. He's listed as a Jr on their roster for this past season. Most sites have him listed as uncommitted as of now. Guess we'll see once he completes his prep school route.

Small is as stated. Most sites have him projected to 'Cuse.

Stewart had 1,300+ yards in his senior season but he really had a good playoff run including 4 catches for 150 yards in the championship game. He's also hoping for a P5 offer, mainly from UGA or Ga Tech. Another one to wait and see on.

There are not many 6' 4"+ guys out there so I expect we're looking hard right now to find a couple more backups, even if they are project players. The good news is that we are stacked at WR, having Letman signed gives us at least one taller target for next year so if we find a project player we have the time to develop him, and with Walton coming out of his RS year that gives us a 6' 6" TE to work with in the rotation with Burns and Hunter Nunn helping to fill in the H-Back spot left with Drew Bailey graduating.

We have some weapons at the TE position but we seem to have gone away from using the TE in the passing game. Last year it looks like 16 catches for around 150 yards and 3 TDs between 3 players.

Don't be surprised to see that changing some next year. We really only had Burns as a true pass threat with Bailey acting mostly as the H (with Nunn as his backup) when we changed up the offense mid season. And several times both Burns and Bailey were blocking for the RB's. Next year we have Burns and Walton with Nunn and Moll that can play H, and the year after will be Walton, Reed, and Burns if he doesn't graduate (he did redshirt and is a Jr student). With all our WR's there should be plenty of chances to get the TE's out in routes 1 on 1 against LB's. A 6' 6" Walton is a big target in the passing game.

Hope we don't reach too much for a big WR. I would like to sign at least one HS WR in the class, so maybe we try to take a commit before signing day and hold a "best available" spot for Adams. But I think we have enough talent at that position that we don't need to take someone out of need.

I agree. Just meant that if we find a guy that needs a RS year to add weight then we have that option. If he plays as they expect him to Letman was a key grab for us as it allows us to not get desperate to sign a 6' 4"+ guy. We're seeing a few more offers pop up to guys in the 6' 0"-6' 2" range that I didn't think we would offer before they signed ZL. Still a month to go so we'll see what develops. We'll be watching the visitors coming in for officials to see if anyone else shows up.

Maybe maybe it's just me, but 6'2-6'3 is a big WR too and we've got a few of those

It is, no doubt. But it's no secret that we want a 6' 4"+ WR. EVERYBODY wants them. But there aren't that many around and the good ones will be among the first offers that go out from the P5's. Usually, at our former level and current level you find the raw guys who need a little developing or the ones with a few :?: :?: :?: in their backgrounds that you take a flyer on. We've been burned by the latter so I don't see us going that route again. Other schools in the G5 are taking some of those, even a couple of our conference mates based on the current commits. But we do have enough in the 6' 2"+ range that we can afford to make sure we don't get burned again.

Trying to discern what Darnell Thompson's tweets mean is like trying to decrypt the Da Vinci codes. The dude has a "me vs the world" mentality and it's going to make him into a very good football player wherever he ends up. He is all about showing that he is the real deal it seems. Although his most recent tweet talking about how he has fallen off with a lot of his old NC buddies and doesn't talk to them anymore makes me nervous.

I was browsing the Internet the other day and decided to check out our recruiting website as it has fizzled out a bit. Everything on there is kept up to date (roster, videos, coaches, etc.); I was a bit surprised. Although, I don't have a Twitter handle anymore, I think this site would be good for some of us to push out to current prospects to "wet their appetite" a little more about our great tradition. Could really generate some interest and retweets by players.

For those of you who do not know this site or have never looked at it, I highly recommend it. Very professional and clean.

I imagine the staff probably directs recruits there pretty early in the process.

Moose,

It sounds like Ga Southern is putting a lot of pressure on some of our commits to flip. Which of our current commits do you think might be most vulnerable to change to Ga Southern or some other peer?

Updated except that they need to remove all of the SoCon logo's. All of the pictures of KBS on the homepage have the SoCon logos plastered on the field.

So obe fortune or Akeem Davis? As these are the only two commits holding offers from GS.

I'm not too concerned about poaching by Georgia Southern to be honest. Fortune is the only guy they offered I could see flipping, and I think he only flips for a P5.

I'm more concerned about filling the ~7 scholarships we have left. I don't think there's a lot of quality options left on our board. I like Adams, Stewart, Roth, Howell, Thompson, Papenheim, and Belton as our top targets, but who comes after that if we miss a few of these guys?

Better a SoCon logo and a jam-packed stadium than a Sun Belt logo and thousands of empty seats.
