Exactly, been trying to explain this. Now, there are all sorts of reasons why we want to win as many games as possible, of course. But the bowl options are basically set.

And anyway, the idea that any bowl rep two months from now is going to hesitate to invite App because of our margin of victory this weekend - especially if it's something like 41-17 - simply doesn't fly at all.
Methinks NewApp is remembering the olden days when conferences weren't tied to particular bowl games and the names of the bowl games were pretty simple - Rose Bowl (began 1902 as Tournament East-West), Sugar Bowl (began 1935), Cotton Bowl (began 1937), etc.. It wasn't until much later that conference ties and corporate sponsors became a fixture in the bowl picture. Of course, that likely means that NewApp is stuck somewhere in the early 1970's.

NewApp, the likelihood of App qualifying for one of the New Year's Six is something less than impossible. Only two of the New Year's Six bowls (Fiesta & Peach) provide for at-large teams. All other bowls are either conference affiliated or part of the CFP National Championship.

I would just hope we could do better than that. I already stated that we are bowl bound unless we majorly implode.

I realize that, Daphne, but I just hope for something slightly better than what the SB is basically guaranteed. I guess the system is pretty much stacked against that.

Yes, that's what everyone's been trying to explain. It's not like, say, the Outback Bowl is going to suddenly decide to invite App State if we go 11-1. All the other bowls have conference tie-ins too.

Here's the full list, if you're interested: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/college ... hedule.php

I don't view most bowl games a bowl games anyway...just a 13th game on a neutral field. Maybe I shouldn't feel that way.

Good grief, though, I knew most were locked in, but not nearly as badly as your chart shows.

That sounds more like it but it will be hard to score that many in the rain.

We scored 49 in the rain last week, and could've scored more easily.

I think we will see a steady dose of ground and pound today. I am predicting 3 rushers with 100 + yards. The defense will continue it's stubbornness and will look to post it's 3rd shutout of the year.
