Agreed but we don’t want to be known as the program who had 15 minutes of fame twice and couldn’t do anything else. If we don’t continue to win then those memories will fade. I personally want to override those wins with some big NY6 or playoff wins in the next 5-7 years. We are in a tough league that is almost guaranteed to get in with our champion by 2024.

You made the comment that you care what millions think of us and that few probably noticed how we finished. What they think won’t always be good though. If we win too much, millions won’t like us and want to see someone upset us. Look at Alabama for that example. I don’t care what they think about us as long as we win.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 7:24 amThanks Captain ObviousAppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 9:29 pmIf we don’t win then they will eventually stop caring.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 8:59 pmI care about winning and what millions think about our season. And when it was brought up whether people noticed this year they certainly did notice. I had a few people who messaged me weekly asking what happened and more who mentioned they could not believe we could not even get in a bowl game.

Your comment is factually incorrect...I did not say "and that few probably noticed how we finished"..I could care less what you think or who is messaging as you are not the millions that I am referring to.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 10:24 amYou made the comment that you care what millions think of us and that few probably noticed how we finished. What about my comment is incorrect? Many people don’t like Alabama because they win a lot and I did hear from several that were surprised we are not in a bowl game. They asked me what happened. Did you not have friends who pull for other teams ask you the same thing?BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 11:26 amYour comment is factually incorrect...I did not say "and that few probably noticed how we finished"..I could care less what you think or who is messaging as you are not the millions that I am referring to.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 10:24 amYou made the comment that you care what millions think of us and that few probably noticed how we finished. The millions you refer to who don’t notice are not noticing because we aren’t relevant unless we win, which Gillin has said before that we must win to be relevant.
I don’t care what millions think of us but I care if they notice us and the only way for that to happen is if we win. Game Day was good and all but honestly I would trade that whole experience to win 11-12 games and be Sun Champs. Winning titles matters way more than just being on Game Day. The winning is what got us on there and honestly winning big is the only way we can ever get them to come back.

I guess when some are challenged on a comment of what is not factual they want to move on instead of defending it. I will try to shorten my replies in this new year though.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 11:37 amDude, move on. One last thing. All of us here want to win, obviously. I hope Shawn can turn it around and make us relevant but if he can’t improve us this year then someone else will be given the chance. I hope Shawn can get it done but if we have another 6-6 season I won’t care who actually does it as long as it gets done. Lol.

We had a lot more than 15 minutes of fame. Many just prefer to see the glass as half full rather than half empty. Either way the glass can be refilled.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 9:31 pmAgreed but we don’t want to be known as the program who had 15 minutes of fame twice and couldn’t do anything else. Re: College Game Day
It was great for a couple of weeks with long lasting effects but regardless this season was a letdown. A lot of other schools had College Game Day as well and I would gladly trade that one win in to win the league title. If we don’t win the division, conference, and a bowl then we fell short on our goals. 2022 was a failure despite Game Day and I’m looking ahead to 2023 instead of dwelling on that weekend, which our coaching staff is as well.goapps93 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 4:41 pmWe had a lot more than 15 minutes of fame. I also don’t agree with some who think this is the start of a downward trend for us. We can definitely turn things around and I hope we do in 2023. We will see.

Re: College Game Day
I don't agree that we are looking at a downward trend at this point. I have to see another year. A year farther away from COVID. A year farther from extra years of eligibility. A year farther from previous recruiting, and another year of portal and nil. As far as Gameday nobody outside of us remembers we were on it. What matters is a winning record. Gameday does not show up in the record book. EVERYTHING is winning. Butts in seats, recruiting, sponsorships, donations. It is all about winning. Gameday is just a fun day for the fans every, well maybe just that one time. Great day but in the scope of things just a fun day. If you doubt that try this the next time someone asks you what happened to us this year. " Well we didn't do very well but we were on Gameday".

Re: College Game Day
I agree with you here on the trend part. That’s why I said some think we are but I don’t think we have to be. This could just be one bad season. If 2023 is a repeat of 2022 though we will see a reset within the program.bcoach wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 9:52 pmI don't agree that we are looking at a downward trend at this point. The rest you said is pretty much fact. I couldn’t tell you who else was on GD this year, mainly because I don’t care, and I don’t mark the schools they go to. Nobody but our fans remembers. I honestly don’t care if we are on there again but I care if we win titles. We can’t make things like one upset and GD define us. We are a championship program and that’s our goal. Anything shy of a title and we didn’t meet all of our goals.

Re: College Game Day
Does GameDay choose each site the prior week based on who sucks the most? - Who is on a downward trend? - No - they go to when winners play and/or extremely important games -
I strongly agree that we are NOT on a downward trend - However, I strongly disagree with statements that seem to suggest GameDay/Highlights on ESPN/ Plays of the Year mean nothing because our record was 6-6 - If you think football fans nationwide - real college football fans - don't know about APP and Boone you are highly mistaken and they didn't get that info from watching WXII, etc.

Since we are talking about #'s and winning - Did you know that since 2020 SC's first year APP has the 24th best winning percentage at 65.8%.
Did you know APP has the 16th most wins at 25 since that time? MUST be inspite of him right?

One year is not a trend , two not really , three yeah .Are we trending without a championship , yes. A winning program , no.So we have a winning program at present , but not a championship program. As I see it anyway from my burrow.

Now tell me what App record is against teams with winning records for the last 2 years?
And tell me if you think our players are progressing/developing on the field?
Last last half of 2021 and all of 2022 have been hard to watch as a 28 year App fan.... 2023 needs to show improvement or ???? Just saying.... I am hoping thing trend back to Winning against both losing teams and most Winning teams

Again I'm not here to convince you of what to think. 9-3 10-4 6-6. Sh%t was not great this year. Lots of factors involved. On paper recruiting has gotten better. Need more $$$ to retain coaches. 12-1 11-2 gonna be hard to attain every year if things aren't rectified behind the scenes. AND yes SC needs to continue to get better as wellPhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 5:10 pmGreat news!! I have a coaching question....... Are there well qualified winning coaches in FCS that would be able to be quality APP coaches?
Why does the coach we need have to cost P5 money?

We were near the bottom of assistants salary pool. It's been increased but I'm not sure how much or how it compares.
