CC has the league’s worst pass defense giving up 273 yds per game…. we have the league’s best pass defense giving up 179… Marshall had 302 yds in air but two turnovers…. plus 11 penalties. 1-0 this week.
Had no idea we had the best pass defense in the league…seems like the weakest secondary we’ve had in a while, but maybe I’m focusing too much on missed tackles and not enough on secondary coverage.
We are good against below average QBs (A&M and GA St.), and you have the Citadel and Robert Morris game skewing results. Our pass defense should be ok versus Marshall and ODU, CCU and GS will be a very tough test. McCall is the second best QB we will face this season.

No doubt that he can beat us with his feet, but he doesn’t seem to have as many quality receivers this year. Quite frankly, coastal hasn’t shown me anything that really impresses me this year.
I might eat my words, but they’ve looked pretty average and have taken advantage of their weak schedule per usual….not that we’ve been much above average in most games.

Coastal is 7-1 but Marshall is their only impressive win. They've beaten a lot of bad teams and haven't beaten them convincingly. As bad as App's defense has been, Coastal's is worse, and their offense hasn't been as prolific as in years past.
It's already been said, but if the App team that beat TAMU, had a shootout against UNC, dominated GA State and JMU for a half shows up, it should be a win. If the team that lost to Texas State and blew the second half against JMU, they'll get boat raced.
My prediction: We run the ball A LOT to control the clock and play good enough defense to hold them to field goals and hopefully force a turnover or 2.

Hate Monday morning meetings when a client asks for tours Thursday afternoon to look at commercial properties. Looks like I'll be missing the App at Coastal game. Was planning on driving up around 2pm from Charleston but not now!! Ugh. Don't these people know it's college football season! Thursdays are essentially the weekend down here!
Sounds like a good time for a "I was called out of town for personal reasons and need to reschedule"

Generally, we need to show up prepped and ready to play. No slow starts and play a full 4 quarters in all aspects of the game.

I'd like to see an innovative game plan with adjustments made as needed. I'd like to see a team that was well prepared. I hope we don't have a lot of bonehead penalties. I hope we show up pumped but under control. I'd like to see pressure on the QB, and sure tackling.

1. It’s Coastal

2. It’s nationally televised game

3. Cam is playing

All this adds up to a victory in my calculator

ODU flat out bullied Coastal with the run game. We need the O line that played the 2nd half of the GS game but we need them in the 1st qtr. If that happens we can burn them bad with the deep throws. But I don’t think our “speed” offense gets it done. We need to be very physical.

That is what we did in 1st half in Conway in 2020. Cam had like a career day in 1st half if I remember. He did not play much in 2nd due to dehydration or injury if I recall. With him out, 2nd half was not good and we lost

Perhaps we don't need to run our predetermined run off right guard on the first 2 plays then the 30 yard out pass on 3rd and 11 to start the game. Maybe switch it up with a jet sweep or play action to a tight end. I can see the mullets being extremely fired up and making attempts to bait our offensive line (in particular) into dumb personal fouls. A nice sustained scoring drive to open the game would be key. We absolutely need to bring some extra rushers and put some pressure on the QB. If he is allowed to run around he could chew us up.
My thoughts exactly. How about a RPO with pass up middle to Pearson for first play of the game? Then tempo to the end zone!

Really do hope we figure out the passing game, believe CC will put that 8-9 in the box to start and force us to throw. The short passes may be very good, really liked some of the RB passes against RMU and the short TE things over the middle may work as well (if we make sure to see the LBs and get the ball over them).

Latest ESPN bowl projections out. I take very little stock in these since they change every week, and I hope next week's is no different. Currently:

Schlabach: vs Liberty in the Gasparilla Bowl (Tampa)
Bonagura: No bowl

Bottom line, its on the O-Line. They play inspired for more than 2 quarters per, we will be fine, if not, we will prob sit home for the first time.

Exactly. We were down a few players due to Covid protocol (Marcus Williams didn't travel) and Harrington was out with an injury. Plus, ZT left the game with an injury the previous week and was not a running threat. Cam could not be stopped in the first half, but ran out of gas. We were still up in the 4th Quarter, kicked one of bounds giving Coastal a short field and could not execute/get out of our own way the final 5 minutes. Their wonder season should have ended that day in Conway.
