Everything had been saying he was probable, so I have been assuming he would play.

David Glenn used the phrase "shock the world" to describe a possible App win. Good god is the divide that big for some folks?

These comments always come from people who don't follow college football or are in the deep end of the Carolina Kool-Aid (Adult) Pool. Glenn seems to be the latter for the clicks.

David Glenn is not that type but he knows his listeners and knows how to generate interest in his show. It's one of the best around.

I had a brainfart and just googled him. I'll still throw him in the "gathering clicks" with that comment though.goapps93 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 1:16 pmDavid Glenn is not that type but he knows his listeners and knows how to generate interest in his show. It's one of the best around.

Re: UNC favored by Vegas -3.5
I typically catch his show for chunks each day to and from lunch. I generally like and appreciate his knowledge. i hate that it takes him forever to say something due to the need to over paint the picture. He gives us a considerable amount of love and respect and had a good take on the game today. I do hate those types of phrases though. This App team could probably knock off a good many P5 teams this year. Obviously from a pure on paper talent perspective Carolina wins but speed kills. The only way we win, in my opinion, is to figure out how to dial up early pressure on their QB. We simply can't let them pick us apart.goapps93 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 1:16 pmDavid Glenn is not that type but he knows his listeners and knows how to generate interest in his show. Re: UNC favored by Vegas -3.5
UNC has allowed 13 total sacks so far, and are abysmal on 3rd down conversions at 9-42 for 21.43% converted.
You are right that getting to Sam will be a huge key in App coming out of Chapel Hill with a win.

Re: UNC favored by Vegas -3.5
Glenn is a UNC alum and owner of the ACC Sports Journal. Overall I like his show when he avoids political topics. However, there's no way that he will portray an App victory as anything other than equal to the Michigan game. It's in his best interest to portray it as little ole App State playing David in slaying Goliath (UNC). To say that the better team won would show (in most people's eyes) that the ACC is as mediocre as it seems. You should listen to how Lauren Brownlow on WRAL describes App and she's trying to be complementary.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 1:21 pmI typically catch his show for chunks each day to and from lunch. I am all for getting pressure on their QB. To me, other than an improved Charlotte offense, that was difference in our meetings with them. Last year, we stopped the run early, forced them to pass and had Reynolds running for his life. This year, not so much.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 1:21 pmI typically catch his show for chunks each day to and from lunch. With that said, is there anyone out there who thinks that we just may be able to outscore Carolina, if we get into a shooting match? I think it's possible. And remember, even though we haven't shown yet that we are as good now as we were at the end of last year,,,, Carolina is not as good as Penn State 2018.

Likewise, we need to give Zac time to throw as well. They give up a lot of big plays but also have a large number of plays for a loss.Overcashed wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 2:05 pmUNC has allowed 13 total sacks so far, and are abysmal on 3rd down conversions at 9-42 for 21.43% converted.

I can't believe anyone pays either of them to watch football. I want to meet that person because apparently they like giving money away for nothing.97APP wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 2:15 pmGlenn is a UNC alum and owner of the ACC Sports Journal. A few comments to what they said.
1. They are living in 2014 because at one time yes the SBC was the worst G5 conference but with App, Ga Sou, Troy, and the rise of Louisiana it is pretty clear the SBC is better than MAC and CUSA. We have proved the last few years we are definitely better than every team in those two leagues.
2. They are right that App and UNC should never play close when you consider the conference, money, brand name, etc but right now we have the better talent by a close margin. UNC is very good and will have a better team in 2 years for sure but at this moment I think this should be a close game where it comes down to coaching. We have more experience and have depth, which everyone knows outside of a top couple stars the depth is where the gap is with average or below P5s and the G5s typically.
3. Yes we have fallen short against P5s but I honestly believe just the lack of arm by a QB and a couple coaching calls are the difference. We were as good or better than Tennessee, Wake Forest, and Penn State. We have some players who are legit ACC starting caliber and if they can't acknowledge that then they are color blind or don't know football. Of course we have no shot to keep it close with Clemson but the ACC has some weak teams that would not win the AAC, MWC, or even SBC right now.
I hope our players hear stuff like this and play out of their minds good. As long as our coaches don't screw this up with stupid calls we can beat UNC. Last year and this year we have the talent to do so. To me this game is truly 50/50 and whoever does a better job in preparing their team and calling plays on both sides will win.

Simmer down. They're WRAL reporters. They know nothing but the ACC and the Triangle teams(mostly the Wolfpack.) Bless their hearts. They don't get paid to analyze other in-state teams or teams from other G5 conferences. It's exactly what we should expect from this market(Triangle). It's precisely why we have to start winning P5 games. No excuses.

I like the they called the UT team we took to the wire as mediocre, they were 9th at the time and finished the year ranked 22nd.
Sure, maybe they were mediocre for Tennessee standards but any team in the Top 25 isn't a slouch.

Re: UNC favored by Vegas -3.5
Tennessee had 9-win seasons in 2015 and 2016. From 2008 to 2018, their next highest win total was 7 AND they've only had 4 winning records in that 11-year span. By Tennessee Standards, that was either their BEST team or their second best.Overcashed wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 2:59 pmI like the they called the UT team we took to the wire as mediocre, they were 9th at the time and finished the year ranked 22nd.

We have to win these games for sure but wait a minute here. She is a voter in the AP Top 25. We have many who want to be ranked and all that. I know she has voted for us before but she thought of it as a throwing us a bone. She never believed it nor would she fairly rank us if we did go undefeated. When these people talk football outside of the triangle and vote nationally they need to know more than just that area. I would agree with you if these people weren't national voters. They are the exact reason why I put zero stock in where someone is in the media polls. Most media have no clue and are just homers to the school they cover and that makes them no better than a fan who just got a journalism degree and knows how to write a story in proper grammar. Over half of them are not experts and their bias shows.goapps93 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 2:48 pmSimmer down. They're WRAL reporters. Agreed, but in her defense, and I don't pay a whole lot of attention to her, Joe (who was in the video with her), and Adam, his radio partner have a knack for bringing out the worst in people and getting a conversation off track. They like very much to play devil's advocate. I think she's much better at her job than the video suggests. Still, they are pretty much just blowhards who like to create a rise in people. Take them with a grain of salt.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 8:01 pmWe have to win these games for sure but wait a minute here. She is a voter in the AP Top 25. I take them all with a grain of salt. Steve Brown was a great analyst who would give both sides. I think all people who cover a team should be like him.goapps93 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 8:59 pmAgreed, but in her defense, and I don't pay a whole lot of attention to her, Joe (who was in the video with her), and Adam, his radio partner have a knack for bringing out the worst in people and getting a conversation off track.
