Agreed. The students pack themselves so tight that I can never get a good guess on what will be reported, but on TV (well, ESPN+), it looked as full as I’ve seen it, minus Miami and Wake.

Re: Attendence??
There were tons of people seeking out shade on the south end zone side. The East seats were baking under that sun. Same issue we always have, people go GA and then stand on the hill or the walkway until they get tired of standing an leave. Can't even see the scoreboard from the hill or walkway.NewApp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 12:15 pmTons of aluminum showing on East Side.AppinVA wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 6:53 amAgreed. Re: Attendence??
Even though we don’t get the oppressive heat and humidity the August games get really hot on that side. I checked a couple of games yesterday on TV and even in big stadiums the sun seats were sparse- never forget that last ECU game. It was unbelievable

Re: Attendence??
I can attest to the fact that sitting on the east side yesterday was like being an ant on the wrong end of The magnifying glass yesterday. We never even had one cloud pass over for relief all day. I don’t blame anyone for running for cover. BTW, the concourse was jammed most of the game, so a lot of those empty seats you saw was because their occupants were under the stands.
I had to go to the restroom at one point and had to wiggle my way all the way to the end of the stands and into the end zone area and double back. There was no walking through the crowd to get straight there. Three distinct layers of people: 1) those taking refuge from the sun but still watching the game; 2) the beer line 3) the concession lines. 2 & 3 were impenetrable, a solid wall of humanity.

Re: Attendence??
Now thaat the stadium is a football only facility, I would be in favor of bringing in fill dirt/rock and moving the hill closer to the field. Make the new space wide enough for adequate consessions areas, adequate space to safely and comfortably walk from East to West stands, and possibly a flat family friendly kids play area at the top of the new hill. We need not just more seats, but more space for fans in the stadium if we are going to get to +30k crowds consitantly. Traffic flow under the West and East stands is as bad as any venue I've ever visited. By moving the hill closer in, we add space for fans to move around and interact, leave the charm of the hill for now, enhance the experience for young families, and we can also add temporary stands in front of the new hill for late season games when necessary and if justified make those seats permanent.

Sounds like we need to triple the number of beer POSs. Learn from Arthur Blank. More points of sale + lower prices = more money spent.

Re: Attendence??
I know it will require more fund raising but APP STATE is a major player in college football! The Very Distant Hill is only holding us back! When it rains or snows, you can forget the HILL! Every fan deserves a seat!
Personally, I would like to see the west and East stands horseshoed with the same height stands close to the scoreboard and the hill moved close to the goal posts. The concourse could be widened substantially under the scoreboard! GO APPS!

Re: Attendence??
Top left and top right on east side should be general admission prices, that way those on a budget can choose and the stands look full in tv. Personally I’d rather stand them sit in hill, but that’s just me.

Top right section on the State side is reserved for recruits. Given that we can’t initiate contact with 2021 recruits until today, there weren’t many visitors this week.

I’m pretty sure the AD has said moving Miller Hill is in the plans, but a later phase. There’s only so much that can happen at one time, and it feels like we are in that place right now lol.

Re: Attendence??
I have always thought that our school did a huge favor to the students, maybe unknowingly, by allowing student seating out of the sun. I go to a lot of UF games and the students are always in the sun. I bet that it is just a matter of time before our administration realizes the prime seating for paying fans and moves all of our students to the west side.

Of course the later in the season 3:30 games allows for some warmth from the setting sun as the home side gets shaded and coldt4pizza wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 7:57 pmI have always thought that our school did a huge favor to the students, maybe unknowingly, by allowing student seating out of the sun. I have my doubts as long as student fees remain at current levels or higher.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 7:57 pmI have always thought that our school did a huge favor to the students, maybe unknowingly, by allowing student seating out of the sun.
