Re: Satterfield Interviews
So you’re saying that you would take a job without considering any factors other than it is a 400% increase?

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Do y'all think that Scott hasn't discussed this with his family and prepared them if the opportunity presents itself. And possibly even gotten their blessing? I highly doubt that his family found out that he interviewed the same way we did. There are right ways and wrong ways to handle situations like this. I'm betting Scott has and will handle it the right way.

Not sure I would take a 400% raise as I have found my niche. Scott may look at things the same way. He is Mountaineer from top to bottom. If he goes it will be when he thinks he has done everything for App State football he can humanly do.

This is my point. Only he know what his motivations are. Either way, we all can agree that if he were to ever leave, he won’t leave the program in a bad way.appstate77 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:03 pmNot sure I would take a 400% raise as I have found my niche. If he left right now, he should be incredibly proud of what he's done here and so should we.appstate77 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:03 pmNot sure I would take a 400% raise as I have found my niche. A coach's work is never fully done, so that notion is a bit ridiculous.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
I mentioned before offering a lifetime contract with COL increases and incentives. Would 15 to 20 years of certainty not be good?

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Not really. In my work as a Pastor I have reached a point where I have poured all my creativity and effort into a church and have had nothing left. I moved on to another church or ministry assignment and found new creativity. I have done enough coaching to know coaching is similar to pastoring. Just a different subject matter.T-Dog wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:09 pmIf he left right now, he should be incredibly proud of what he's done here and so should we.appstate77 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:03 pmNot sure I would take a 400% raise as I have found my niche. Re: Satterfield Interviews
Reading this and previous similar threads, I fear some folks are setting themselves up to be unfairly bitter when Satt does leave.

A comparable job to the one I have now, which is what this would be, yes.
Are you saying you wouldn’t take a position with the same responsibilities as your current role that paid four times as much?

Re: Satterfield Interviews
I’m not sure I’m understanding this correctly. Are you advocating a 15-20 year contract for a football coach?

Re: Satterfield Interviews
The easy answer is yes. But life isn’t easy. My decision is not motivated by compensation alone. I have a family to think about and their happiness and willingness to move are important to me. A job like the one that we are talking about is stressful and high pressured. Coming home to a house full of loved ones that don’t necessarily want to be there and would rather be where they were is not conducive to an enjoyable life. So while I do understand the lure of the money, and we can all use more money, it is far down my list of priorities.

Guys, come on, he’s human, if a bigger, more lucrative job comes along, with new challenges and opportunities, he’s gone, and 99% of us would do the same. I love Boone and prefer it to Raleigh, but my opportunities are here. You think Scott doesn’t want to build a better future for his wife and kids.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
No one would fault him for leaving for new challenges and opportunities. I am sure that Scott has his family in mind and is in a profession that will allow him to set up his kid’s kids for life. I’m sure that is a comforting feeling. But in all honesty, he can do all of that making what he makes now. If he can’t, then it is doubtful that he could do it with 4x that salary.AppOrange wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 10:08 pmGuys, come on, he’s human, if a bigger, more lucrative job comes along, with new challenges and opportunities, he’s gone, and 99% of us would do the same. Got it, everyone loves their family, the biggest reason I still live in Charlotte.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 9:58 pmThe easy answer is yes. But life isn’t easy. However, A four year $10M guaranteed contract says your family would be ok long term with the decision. As well as your childrens’ grandkids with the right planning, we’re talking about generational transforming wealth.
You don’t think Satt isn’t already under pressure, he puts in 100 hours a week during the season and seldom sees his family. The sacrifice is real.
I hope we keep him forever, but I still believe no one on here would turn down that kind of offer given the circumstances.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
I get it and I’m not saying that he wouldn’t do it or shouldn’t do it. I’m sure he is under pressure here and works a ton of hours and his family time is limited, but I wouldn’t want to come home to a house full of resentment for moving. Unfortunately I have been in a situation where work life sucked and the home life was worse. You don’t feel safe or appreciated anywhere. It is a feeling that I wish on no one. As for the money and setting his family up long term. He can do that now. He can invest one months salary into mutual funds for his kids tomorrow and make them each multi millionaires by the time they are his age. In the end I hope that he is a lifer. He may be or he may want another challenge. Don’t know, but like the Meadors situation, he has to do what is best for him and his family. For me, money doesn’t factor into that as there isn’t anything that I can do with $2.5 million that I can’t do with $700k.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 10:36 pmGot it, everyone loves their family, the biggest reason I still live in Charlotte.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 9:58 pmThe easy answer is yes.
