Re: Recruiting, 2015
Thanks. I was pretty sure he was plus Reed and Rubino. Whitner was the main one I wanted to double check on. Should have the full list tomorrow.APPARJ wrote:Daniel David was there for sure, Moose.firemoose wrote:Plenty but I didn't get the list before the game. Re: Recruiting, 2015
Assuming Benton's dismissal is permanent, there's one more spot available, and presumably DE becomes an even bigger priority.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
I haven't seen yet but with him and Wright now gone I would say we're now looking at taking around 19-20 this year. Not really a genius guess since Satt said at Media Day that we would be taking 17-18. We're at 11 now and if we keep all of those then yes, DE will join OL at the top of the list. We've said all along that we were planning to take 3-4 OL since we're losing 4. Now with Deuce gone to graduation and Benton off that's two DE's gone.EastHallApp wrote:Assuming Benton's dismissal is permanent, there's one more spot available, and presumably DE becomes an even bigger priority.
If the numbers stay the same and we keep all current commits then we have, on the low side, 8 left. We have 1 OL commit so 2-3 more. Same with DE's. One tall WR is also at the top of the wish list. The rest are fill ins for what we're losing.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Things are quite right now as most HS players are in the playoffs. Once teams start dropping out then things should start to move more towards commits to fill up our last spots (along with JUCO's as their season is coming to an end also) and then the fight to keep them until signing day begins.crossza wrote:Any news to be looking for? Any potential recruits set to announce soon?
Also watching directly for Antonius Sims from GMC and hoping for a commit from him. Plus watching to see which direction Darnell Thompson from Highland CC is leaning, and watching for an offer for OL Chase Nixon from GMC. I also expect a few more OL and DL offers to go out along with a few more HS offers. We've had several recruits visit at the last few home games that don't hold offers yet but are getting hard looks.
Next big date to watch for is the JUCO signing period starting Dec 17th. We want to see Letman signed so he can come in for the Jan semester. And anyone else who might commit before then that is planning to enroll early.
I have some changes to make to the pages and a 2016 offer to add. I'll be updating the pages later tonight.

Do we have any more room for DBs? Still hoping we can land Meadows out of Dudley. I know he visited recently and has great size for a safety. Although undefeated, Dudley was banned from the playoffs this year so we should be working him pretty hard right now.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
They are still looking for another DB to go along with Fortune. A 6' 4"+ WR, OL/DL, and another DB are at the top of the list right now. Biggest problem is we have offers out and more to come but most everyone we've offered has multiple FBS offers, which is what most want, but it also means they have plenty of options so it makes it harder to get them to commit. We'll see where we stand when the dead period ends in the first part of January.App95 wrote:Do we have any more room for DBs? Still hoping we can land Meadows out of Dudley. Looks like we just picked up Antonius Sims from GMC. Saw it posted on teammate Dezmin Reed's instagram. Looks like another solid pickup! GO APPS!!

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Hey Everybody. Just wanted to let people know that on every commit I always get confirmation before I post. We got hit last year when a recruit said on his twitter that he had committed and all the sites picked it up. We all posted it and then found out that his commit wasn't accepted by the staff yet. So Mike over at 24/7 and I decided we wouldn't put any commit up until there is confirmation. I'm still waiting for it. I'll post something ASAP.

Was that the kid who went ballistic on twitter bashing App? Or someone else?firemoose wrote:Hey Everybody. Just wanted to let people know that on every commit I always get confirmation before I post. If this turn out to be true this might be my favorite commit so far. Super versatile, played FB last year and DE this year. Perfect size/strength/weight ratio for a 3-4 DE. Very raw but athleticism to spare.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Someone else. The kid who went off on App was Josh Nobles from 2013. He said that we pulled an offer but I never found any offer. Sounds like he confused interest with offer although he'll never admit it. Said he turned down other schools thinking he was going to App. He still bashes us every chance he gets. Last year it was WR Calvin Smith. He did hold an offer from App, came to a visit, and tweeted he had committed that day. But it was reported we had higher targets and were waiting to hear from them. He signed with Gardner Webb.mtnjax wrote:Was that the kid who went ballistic on twitter bashing App? Or someone else?firemoose wrote:Hey Everybody. Re: Recruiting, 2015
He's got great footwork, very good moves coming off the line, and a quick burst. It helps that he played FB/HB also. That shows in his footwork and speed.ASUPATCH wrote:appstate24 wrote:Looks like we just picked up Antonius Sims from GMC. Saw it posted on teammate Dezmin Reed's instagram. We have a lot of JUCO guys. How fast will these guys contribute an how much (in your opinion)
Also how much eligibility will each one have?

Some could start, but worst case scenario it quickly adds some experienced depth.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
As Patch said they will add real quality depth and all could start. Letman is one of the tall WR's we've been wanting in this class. Wanted two 6' 4"+ but he's 6' 3" with a big vert so that counts. Will really help in the jump ball situations. Reed is a beast of a LB. He has/can play both inside and out but is projecting outside for us right now. Sims would be another beast coming off the edge. As I said above he's got some very good moves off the line and is very quick off the ball. Combine that with the footwork and he fits in great with our D.crossza wrote:We have a lot of JUCO guys. All of them were Class of 2013 recruits and are showing as Sr's on the GMC roster so they would have 3 to play 2.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
I'm really interested in where Darnell Thompson is going to commit too. He has been very quiet and has multiple FBS offers
