I walked over and got into a respectful conversation with one of them. I kindly asked her when they would be protesting making up classes for snow days. She told me "That is completely different." I then asked her "How are 2 days in fall semester, when you have know since Feb. these games were being held, more important than 2 weeks missed because of snow professors cannot plan for?" She said "Because" That is about all you need to know.Gonzo wrote:They're not very respectful. I'd hate to see how they'd treat such a kind person such as yourself. And they CLEARLY know nothing of economics. Based on the Facebook group, most of them are social services majors.

Yes, sadly, they do exist. Many of them don't realize that there are designated areas on campus for such a thing ("Free Speech Zones"). They'll pester around, talk about bringing down the system, then leave.NewApp wrote:Is this a joke? Have we had protesters at our games? PS, watch out for those pesky protesters. I'm sure they'll be around somewhere.
It's ok though. They showed up against GaSo and we ran away with a W. Maybe they're our good luck charms.

Oh, I'm not nearly as kind as some suppose. My degree in English comes in handy sometimes. We'll see if they try to tangle with Grandma Wordsmith.Gonzo wrote:

Those that may need you services will be glad you are well rested if that is your decision. It is only a game.ASU84 wrote:My wife and I both work 24 hour shifts in emergency services and we both have to be at work Friday morning for another 24 hour shift. We'll be up with 8 in our group- we had 6 in our group for GaSo and Troy. We we've got a house for the weekend near Blowing Rock and it will be nice to have a 15/20 minute drive instead of two hours after the game.

Rest assured, each patient or emergent situation we may be involved in will get our full attention and effort. I appreciate your concern though. Most likely we will make the trip. Re: See you Thursday
I haven't seen anybody say what exactly these protesters are protesting about. Somebody please clue me in.

Re: See you Thursday
They are using the football games on Thursday and saying because it is affecting parking for students and staff that the University is putting athletics ahead of academics. Then from there they are attacking student fees for athletics and non-tenure professor pay, and now they are attacking capitalism. I enjoy going on their facebook page. It is entertaining and some students/former students are giving them hell and its pretty funny.NewApp wrote:I haven't seen anybody say what exactly these protesters are protesting about. I believe they plan to protest the pay increases received by several chancellors in the UNC system as well.

Re: See you Thursday
They did that yesterday at noon on Sanford mall. But yes this will come up as well, I am sure. The professor leading this makes 118,000 a year, and is calling for Everts to give her raise to the lowest paid University employees. I wonder if he has done this himself?appst89 wrote:I believe they plan to protest the pay increases received by several chancellors in the UNC system as well.

Re: See you Thursday
It is part of the fabric of a University to have protesters over something. Doesn't bother me at all. Of all the things in the world that need protesting this is not on my short list.
I do agree the raises of the Chancellors are out of touch. This issue of missing class and student fees is misplaces ans i've said before. The problem is in Raleigh. Student fees while high are in line with every other UNC campus even thosue without football. Giving up a parking space for a couple of days a year should not be a major issue.

Re: See you Thursday
Is there any way we can get everyone to move down and close together for the game tomorrow? Obviously there will be empty aluminum but I feel like it would be so much better if we could all get close together and pack in like the students do to pump the available crowd energy up even more! Any thoughts?

This has nothing to do with attendance, but every time I see this thread title, I read it as "See you next Thursday" and assume it's a thread about Willie Fritz.

If it is SOP, they will avoid getting the empty stands in the back ground as much as possible, as well as it should be.YesAppCan wrote:Lots-O-Tickets left for tomorrow... Will look baaaad on tv.

I agree in principle about the parking spaces but where do they go?Rekdiver wrote:It is part of the fabric of a University to have protesters over something. Doesn't bother me at all. Of all the things in the world that need protesting this is not on my short list.
