Re: App -12 vs ECU
If we play liked we did against SMU and Tulsa we can win the game. If we play like we did against GA St we will lose. The positive for us we return basically everyone of importance and we were trending in the right direction

Fumbles, mistakes in kicking games, stupid penalties make a huge difference in most games. If our team avoids these things, we good. If not, no matter what the line is, we get beat.

So you are saying it makes no difference how App plays in the outcome? You are saying App is not good enough to beat you if you play like you did against SMU/Tulsa, period.oasispirate wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 9:48 pmIf we play liked we did against SMU and Tulsa we can win the game. Re: App -12 vs ECU
Yeah that’s pretty much their attitude on the 247 for a not insignificant portion of their posters. I dont think the line should be as high as it is, but if Brice is serviceable and the OL performs up to par then I do think App wins the game. Which I think they feel the same about ECU. But it is a bit of an odd stance considering one program is 63-15 since 2015 while the other is 21-48. They do not respect App like they do the SMU’s of the world. But i think they wake up on September 3rd having learned a bit.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:01 amSo you are saying it makes no difference how App plays in the outcome? Looking at tailgate spots for Thursday and most say the lots are open 24/7 but not allowing access until 5:30. Anybody doing tailgate and found a spot that allows us in earlier? I can't even get my drinking done 5:30-7 much less the required grilling.

He said "If we play liked we did against SMU and Tulsa we can win the game." Not will win the game. While I think App wins, I do believe we could lose.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:01 amSo you are saying it makes no difference how App plays in the outcome? That’s a good call out that makes a difference in the statement. I may have been a little harsh on my one eyed friend. I can concur with his point.Captain Morgan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:03 pmHe said "If we play liked we did against SMU and Tulsa we can win the game." Not will win the game. Welcome Oasis.
I've visited many sports message boards since they became popular in 90s...without a doubt the Cabin is the calmest, accepting and mature one I've found.
I like to think that is an accurate description of our fan base.

Capt Morgan, that calm maturity probably comes from our refined taste due to sipping shine. We also have a superior sense of humor

Re: App -12 vs ECU
App will have to put up head turning numbers vs ECU to get in top 25 after week 1. Possible but not likely, -12 will not turn heads. Let's win however and move on to Miami.

We could win by 35 and not come close to top 25. Everything is about pregame perception in FBS polls/rankings.

I like living in fantasy land. This is a field goal or TD in Q4 if we win.

Re: App -12 vs ECU
If Brice comes out on fire and we light up the scoreboard that gets people’s attention. Our biggest question is QB. If that appears resolved and Brice looks great that may give pollers confidence that we are back. Former Clemson guy behind Lawrence finds new home at App.... blah blah blah makes for a good story.

Re: App -12 vs ECU
It may work in the weeks to come if it continues. But the first week there is no pre-season hype for us. Unfortunately FBS takes having hype before a game is played to have the best rankings (especially when you are playing another team no one is currently paying any attention to). It is a handicap of FBS I despise.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:07 pmIf Brice comes out on fire and we light up the scoreboard that gets people’s attention. Our biggest question is QB. Looking to confirm the entire Band of Distinction will be bused to BoA. If so, will the Marching Mountaineers play pregame and at halftime? #BeatECU

Re: App -12 vs ECU
Does anyone know approx. how many total tickets are sold to this game? How about how many App tickets?
I think Gillin said he was either expecting or hoping for about 35k App fans, I don't know where he got that but assume it is all sold through App and Charlotte ticket office, or wherever. Do we expect ECU to bring about the same? 70k total attendance would be impressive for a G5 matchup on neutral field. Isn't capacity around 73k at BOA for football.
