Yes
I don't know every line item in every program's budget but if we are to believe the figures that were posted, I'd say App could fully fund football and b-ball with $20m. I'd even venture to say App could run both revenue programs on $11m if the $9m from school funds was removed but that's just a guess on my part.

Do you not see any unintended consequences from this proposed legislation? This is supposedly all about "fairness" since the rest of the student body can make money off NIL or even have a year round job. So with "fairness" in mind, should athletes have to relinquish their eligibility requirements (currently: 2.3 GPA/900 SAT) and meet the standards of the university (eg. App: 4.14 GPA/1185 SAT) like all the rest of the student body?

Hopefully Burr is spending the majority of his time on real problems we all face ---
Agreed. California got the ball rolling on this and they have few other problems they should work on.

NC Senator Richard Burr plans to introduce a bill to tax said student athletes' scholarship if they receive money in relation to them cashing in on their fame.
About time, if they are wanting to be semi-pro athletes then treat them like semi-pro athletes.
Yes, it is about time a GOP senator introduced legislation TAXING a college kids scholarship just because he’s an athlete. LOL. Again, where is this energy for the kid on academic scholarship?? Senator Burr, you’re blowing a pretty loud dog whistle here my man.

If a person is making money on endorsement deals then deduct that amount from the "value" of their scholarship. If a student athlete is getting rich playing for a college team then let them pay for their time at the institution (hesitant to say education). Save the scholarship dollars for those who can't afford to pay for their own education. I have no problem with athletes getting paid but I'm not so big on my Yosef dollars going to someone who is making far more than I am. I give to help those who rely on scholarships. If I were wealthy I would expect to pay my own way. Even the gov't will not give financial aid to a student whose parents make too much. This shouldn't be any different. I will say that the university should cover the medical expenses if an injury occurs while playing for the university, but that would be all. I can think of several flaws in my own suggestion, but I just think a "student athlete" who can afford to pay his/her own way and are making that money due to their exposure at the university should not be double dipping.

Guessing on my part also but my guess is that FB and BB could not run as it does today on $9m I would also say that the donation part was not 100% FB so that may have to be shrunken a little bit also.
I think there are all kinds of unintended consequences in this and I am against it so I think we agree there if I understand you. As far as eligibility I have always believed that everyone should have the same entrance requirements.

How will this affect the high school environment and coach? Players wanting big stats hoping it'll turn in to dollars in college? The parent/parents of an 8 year old that is dominating the Y ball league will begin to build the image for the future dollars? Or is that any different than it is now?
