I'm trying to calm down the locals, you think I'm irrational, check out the below. Appears they have run out of patience and are tired of always losing to P5 schools. Remember the below is not my post, however, from a local App grad from the early 70s:

"If all we have is Satt we're f&*ked. Always making excuses... Poor ole app if they could just execute an extra point or maybe not jump off sides on 4th and 4 and all that stuff. But we played them good...Come on...I want to win yes but I just want us to play real football teams. This Sunbelt conference is a joke and we are not getting better."

Anyway, it's hard to convince some when we constantly fail to get over the hump. I keep telling them to be patient, however, it appears their patience has worn out. :(
Why the criticism of Coach Satterfield? We will all be singing his lament when he leaves, which will come sooner or later. Too, with the salary and benefits we are paying him, we can't afford much more in the way of high paid assistants. Nate Woody was a godsend.
This was a team loss after a grueling road trip to Texas State. Why does anyone have to pick somebody to blame.
You, if I recall correctly, were one of the ones wanting Jerry Moore out the door. He's gone and is replaced by, as many claim, the primary one who engineered the historic win over Michigan in the Big House.
Let's always seek to improve, but at the same time be thankful for what we have.

As I've previously said these are not my thoughts or comments, keep stirring though.

As someone mentioned earlier, there were 5 or 6 "just one plays" that could've made the difference in the outcome. Letman's penalty on the punt was a total bone-head play (he wasn't even rusing in to block the punt, he was on cover) BUT he made some great catches that kept drives alive. As with Tennessee last year, the football gods deemed it wasn't our day..

The offsides on the 4th down was a mistake but I'm not sure it was because of being undisciplined (such as a stupid personal foul type penalty) and I say that because I believe he actually lined up off-sides - not an excuse just a clarification in my opinion ---

Read my post more closely. I wasn't replying particularly to him, except for the part about Moore. just using his post as a reply to so as to keep the thread coherent.
Peace.

He may have lined up offsides but he actually took a step as the ball was hiked. He wasn't even rushing the punter, he took a step forward and then dropped back into coverage. He also made some great catches that kept drives alive so I'm not slamming him or anything, but a really unfortunate penalty.

Makes sense -
Someone on our sideline should have seen him lining up off-sides and they probably did but he couldn't hear them yelling - again, I guess my point is that some mistakes are just that - mistakes, while some like taunting are totally undisciplined ---

Yeah he lined up in the neutral zone, and then jumped further offsides. He made a lot of great plays in the game so I hate to bash him, but it really was one of the most bonehead plays I've ever seen. If he was rushing to try and block it wouldn't have been nearly as bad.

The taunting call was really for spinning the ball. Had he just dropped it then nothing happens. I think that he was excited about the catch and in the moment spun the ball. He may have said something, but he didn't appear to look at the defender.

94 - I'm sorry I should have said generic taunting penalties as I wasn't even thinking about the ball spin - but you are correct ---

Yeah, and when I watched it on replay, he like slapped his own head and knew it was a mistake. Ironically (?), he wouldn't even have had to deal with that penalty had he not made a killer play to catch that ball which was not an easy play. I like the kid, he's going to be a gamer for us.

No need to apologize. I don't necessarily agree with that being called taunting. I think it should be a delay of game.

I don't even think that what he did should be a penalty. As long as they're not like directly taunting an opposing player let the kids celebrate a little. All he did was spin the ball on the ground like a top. I understand that under the current rules that's a legit penalty, I just don't like the rule. For the fans, football is just entertainment, so what's the harm in being entertained by a little celebration for a big play. Just my opinion.

Tennessee alum, " People are saying that you played Georgia a better game than we did". My response " Yes , but Troy beat LSU".
