I remember our Thanksgiving weekend playoff games back in the day. We had a few more fans than I expected but everyone kind of spread out. I would guess 100? The campus seemed a little community college-ish. But they had done a very good job with a mixed-use development on the outskirts of campus that would be similar to what I have seen in Atlanta at the Georgia Tech campus included a Barnes and Noble Chick-fil-A etc. It's about 230 miles north to Albuquerque. I drove 85-90 most of the way and still got passed often. The Southwest is so culturally different it was interesting trip. No one really acknowledged me, either to say welcome or to make snide comments. That was a little odd given the distance. Did not seem the LC community was very into the team either. Because it was Thanksgiving weekend and I traveled on Thanksgiving day my airfare was cheap. I would actually probably make the trip again if we play them just for the cultural experience (and of course following the Mountaineers anywhere).
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: NMSU Game
I read it as he was saying about 100 App fans at NMState game - the Thanksgiving playoff game I remember was against Maine in '03 (?) and there couldn't have been much than 3,000 people total in KBS and they were spread out - thus, I believe, the reference to our Thanksgiving playoff games from years ago --- That's my guess

Re: NMSU Game
Could be right. I'm willing to bet that most G5 schools that are similar to App see or would see the same basic attendance numbers for Thanksgiving weekend home games. Any school that plays a game when students are gone will take a huge hit. Not only do you lose a significant number of butts you also lose the parents who might otherwise come up. The other inevitable factor is weather which is usually not the greatest at the end of November- triple whammyWVAPPeer wrote:I read it as he was saying about 100 App fans at NMState game - the Thanksgiving playoff game I remember was against Maine in '03 (?) and there couldn't have been much than 3,000 people total in KBS and they were spread out - thus, I believe, the reference to our Thanksgiving playoff games from years ago --- That's my guess

We had a lot more than that our play off games with only a week's notice. We are better than that.bigdaddyg wrote:Could be right. Re: NMSU Game
It was the game where we had a 13-0 late in the 3rd, I think, anyway Best called for a long pass out of our own end zone into a stiff wind - Burchette's pass got caught up, was intercepted, game turned, we lost 14-13 ---bigdaddyg wrote:I think was there also. Yep, I was at the Maine playoff game too...it sucked. It wasn't crowded but I have no idea of the numbers in attendance.

Re: NMSU Game
Bottom line is that we played an FBS regular season football game Saturday in front of about 6,000 fans and that is pitiful. The attendance at KBS years ago for an FCS playoff game the Saturday after Thanksgiving is irrelevant. Just saying

Boy, if they're not careful, New Mexico State is going to get kicked out of the conference or something.bigdaddyg wrote:Bottom line is that we played an FBS regular season football game Saturday in front of about 6,000 fans and that is pitiful. Re: NMSU Game
Ha...pretty bad when you get kicked out of the SBC, and they're just going to get worse as an indie. They should drop down to FCS and try to build a winning program at that level and then move back up to FBS down the road if the economics support it.EastHallApp wrote:Boy, if they're not careful, New Mexico State is going to get kicked out of the conference or something.bigdaddyg wrote:Bottom line is that we played an FBS regular season football game Saturday in front of about 6,000 fans and that is pitiful.
