Dale Jones is extremely invested in Appalachian, and Boone. Money is not a concern.

He wasn’t sure he had a job here .He loves the game , the kids and coaching. Scott wanted him and had to move on with or without him. I think your answer is “ timing “. Although I’m not certain Drink was going to retain him.

Sorry to disagree with you, they are very much a bug in Doug’s ear, and Doug is involved in each hire. The obviously aren’t directly involved, but I’ve heard of examples of them “influencing”.

Sine the BOT approved SC based on DG recommendation. I think the BOT needs to back off and let the head ball coach and AD take it from there. I’d rather see the BOT find us ways get us some more money.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
I’m not sure you are disagreeing with me. Do they talk to Doug ? Of course some of them do. However they don’t tell DG , Coach Clark or Sheri Everts who to hire . They do approve contracts. And again , it’s not unusual for an AD to be involved .Ours is , but rest assured it will be Clark ‘s staff.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 7:30 pmSorry to disagree with you, they are very much a bug in Doug’s ear, and Doug is involved in each hire. Re: Who stays, who goes?
He didn't want to leave but needed a job. Drink wanted to retain him and Ivey actually. But, they both wanted multi year contracts since there was an uncertainty on how long Drink would stay around. Not sure if Drink or DG declined that, but it was declined. So, they went to Louisville to have a job.

Meanwhile, Former Furple QB and current ULLLLLLLL Head Coach Billy Napier got 3 years worth of extensions in 3 months...Per Football Scoop...After announcing a 1-year extension through 2023 in October, ULL on Thursday tacked another two years onto Napier’s deal, keeping him under contract through 2025.

Without knowing the details (i.e. did he get a pay raise), all this likely does is increase the payout the school will receive if/when Napier moves to another school. There's not much chance a Belt school can compete with P5 money (as we've learned), but they can prepare for the inevitable before it comes.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 1:41 pmMeanwhile, Former Furple QB and current ULLLLLLLL Head Coach Billy Napier got 3 years worth of extensions in 3 months...Per Football Scoop...After announcing a 1-year extension through 2023 in October, ULL on Thursday tacked another two years onto Napier’s deal, keeping him under contract through 2025.

No big deal, contracts don’t mean anything.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 1:41 pmMeanwhile, Former Furple QB and current ULLLLLLLL Head Coach Billy Napier got 3 years worth of extensions in 3 months...Per Football Scoop...After announcing a 1-year extension through 2023 in October, ULL on Thursday tacked another two years onto Napier’s deal, keeping him under contract through 2025.

Hoping our net will be cast broader than that if Roof doesn't come back. Then again football scoop did say senior role for Jones.

And hypotheticals can also be put to rest, which is all I was doing. Carry on.

That was my concern. I guess everyone was concerned about Roof as well so who knows. Apparently problems with the teams while Jones was the DC extended beyond him.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Dale Jones is a great coach and I would love to have him back at App, but I would be very concerned if he is in a DC role. The Roof situation was totally different in terms of the resume that each has at that position. Jones has been the DC at App before and was unimpressive. I give him credit for having the flexibility to work with the re-organization that Satterfield. That shows a lot of commitment and humility (more than most of us have). Perhaps there were factors back then that would be different. If nothing else, he has years of experience and I'm sure he has learned a lot from Woody and Roof. Just because he under performed 7 years ago doesn't mean he would today. I will support Clark's decision regardless of whether it makes me feel all warm and cozy but given my 'druthers, I 'druther have him coach LBs with maybe an AHC title.ericsaid wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 4:13 pmThat was my concern.
