Dale is simply indefensible on third and long. It’s embarrassing. I would almost always prefer 3rd and medium or short.
It's not Dale, it's called no pass rushers plus either young or fcs talent in the secondary.
Nate Woody, Bryan Brown never used that excuse, even when there were FCS players on the field.
They also had Blair, Meech, Fuller, Spurlin, Sims, etc as true down linemen as pass rushers. Our only pure pass rushers are LBs. Makes a huge difference
How do you expect people to respect your opinions when you constantly act as a shill for the coaches? Every single time, you defend them.
Don't care if people respect it. Nothing I've said in this thread is an opinion.

And you obviously only comprehend what you want to comprehend. I've been critical several times for different play calls, situation football, etc.

I thought the 4th and 1 on the half inch yard play call was terrible. I thought that 3rd down play call we just had was suspect. Happy?

And if we did take a shot with 3 timeouts and it's picked, everyone complaining about not taking a shot would be complaining about taking a shot...

If that run went for 10+, we take the shot because it's a more manageable distance. It's the right call to not take the shot after only 5.
We’ve taken shots down field all year. Any one of those could be intercepted. Whatever, we had 3 timeouts and could have worked the middle. Was the 5 yards worth Marshall limping off of the field?
Yes, but we take shots when they're in man coverage on the outside. They were in a cover 3 man look. So, a deep shot right there would be at minimum double coverage. And that's assuming one GaSo player falls down or just completely fails at his job.
So, double coverage over the top might leave the middle or sidelines available?
It's only double coverage over the top if the ball is thrown. If we go over mid, it's covered too. Unless play action brings the LBs up. Which I agree could have been a good call. Didn't see how the gaps were lined up.

Dale Jones has been on staff since dinosaurs walked the earth, and been in the driver seat defensively since 2018. When exactly is it his defense? I bet if the defense was killing it, he'd be taking all kinds of credit. The fact he doesn't appear to own anything is a problem unto itself.

So the pretty sideline reporter is still a student at GSU. She's doing a pretty good job. One sided of course but she handles herself very well and sounds like she knows what she is talking about.

Secondary is so suspect. If they just keep throwing we are done.

So who do you blame for that? The players who signed the LOI or the coaches that recruited them and gave them an offer. At some point you have to put blame on the coaches. Not saying they're to blame for every aspect of this disappointing season, but to blame players that were put on this team and into these roles by the coaches isn't fair.

Defense is way too slow. Used to never be able to go laterally on an app defense

Don't disagree. He needs to take credit. And he has. Theres a reason Rod West is more involved in the game planning and play calling...

Maybe time to hit the transfer portal for a new secondary. These guys have had all year and they have zero improvement.

I agree EXCEPT if we had passed instead of run we would have a higher likelihood of getting a chunk of yards and an incomplete would stop the clock, giving us more time to keep trying down field. But we all knew exactly what was going to happen as soon as we got the ball with 40 seconds left.
Right. Running the play that has us over 150 yards and averaging more than 15 yards a carry (on that specific play) has a less chance of getting 10+ than throwing when we're averaging about 8 per completion.....
Now you listen here. This is no place for statistics or analysis. This is the game thread. We only use emotions to guide us.

3 or 4 man blitz (whether dropping a man back into coverage or not) is giving the same results of not blitzing at all. It’s basically not a blitz. How about some real blitzes since it doesn’t seem to be working with the blitzes I don’t understand.
