Re: Recruiting, 2015
thanks, with Lamb and Carouso already on the roster we should, hopefully, be set at QB for the next 2 or 3 years.

My apologies firemoose. I wasn't questioning your information, just stating what I saw. My point was that his frame will benefit greatly from a S&C program.firemoose wrote:If you'll look at his player page on the Main Page you'll see the most current hudl profile (there are 2 available) and it lists him at 302. Last season his high school roster, according to Mike at 24/7, showed him at 281. This year it shows 300. I went with the latest data I could find but Mike is interviewing him and I'll adjust it if need be.AppSt94 wrote:HUDL has him listed at 281. From what I could see on film is that he will benefit greatly from a college level S&C program. There is a lot of potential in his frame to fill out.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
No problem at all. I wasn't upset about anything. Hope it didn't come across as that. I was just making sure people were looking at the Main Recruiting Page instead of using a search engine because I usually don't put a player page up unless I've researched it fully and tried to get the best info out there.AppSt94 wrote:My apologies firemoose. Also, I had one of our longer term members reach out to me by PM the other day and he didn't know where the Main Pages that I kept referring to were. I knew some guests or maybe newer members might not know but I didn't realize that someone who has been on here for a long time didn't know where to find those pages. They are where I spend 90% of my time. Posting in the thread is tiny compared to the research and work I do to build the individual pages for each player. That's why it's usually more than a half hour from the time an offer shows up on twitter, the net, or through staff contact, even if I'm sitting right there, until it's posted on the page and then added to the thread. Half of that time is spent digging up the info and the other half is spent building the player page. A lot of hours go into these pages and I get all the help I can on the research side from 78' and Mike at 24/7 (plus you guys) but the building of the pages I do alone just because I'm used to the software. It truly is a labor of love and one I do for everyone on here. It's not as in depth as you can get on the pay sites but it's the best a couple of guys with computers can do.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Sorry. I was trying to get information on this and also building the page since he has a hudl package. LS/LB Caleb Hendrix (6′ 3″ 215) of Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines, NC has said on twitter he's committing to App. He just attended the Chris Rubio Long Snapper Event Elite in LA and has been camping at App, South Carolina, and ECU. I have built a player page with video and put it in the Other Newcomers section of the Main Page as it's being reported as a PWO offer.
Rubio Long Snapping® @TheChrisRubio
Rubio Long Snapper & EVENT ELITE member Caleb Hendrix (NC) has committed to App State as a preferred walk-on!
That's why it took me so long to put up a post because it was a bit confusing that a 2015 recruit would commit to a PWO offer now with his senior season still ahead and plenty of time for a scholarship offer to be extended by someone. I was trying to get confirmation if this was a PWO but everyone is out today. I'll update as soon as I get more information.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
This one is still evolving but I was able to confirm this is a PWO offer that was extended at our kicking camp. A lot of people were caught off guard at the acceptance of a PWO right now, even from an in state player. PWO's don't usually accept until after signing day. I even started to put him on the 2014 page until I found the NCSA page showing him as a 2015 player. That's why I took so long to post. Just wanted to confirm.firemoose wrote:Sorry. Re: Recruiting, 2015
as a Long Snapper, it is highly unlikely that he will get a scholarship offer from any school. so he must feel that App is the best fit for him regardless of who else he may get a PWO from and decided to go ahead and commit now

Re: Recruiting, 2015
I agree. Long Snapper is more of a specialist position than it was when I played or even just a few years ago. Unless you just find that player that has the size to play line all the time and can also LS then it's like a kicker. Unless they are an exceptional player and a team has an extra ship available they are almost always PWO's these days. Really what caught me off guard and what I felt I needed to check before posting was that he was truly a 2015 recruit. Don't see it too often that a PWO accepts this early. Just want to be as accurate as I can for everybody.mtnjax wrote:as a Long Snapper, it is highly unlikely that he will get a scholarship offer from any school. so he must feel that App is the best fit for him regardless of who else he may get a PWO from and decided to go ahead and commit now

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Interesting post I saw this morning and have been doing a little digging. Gray College-a prep school/JUCO in West Columbia, SC-was the subject of a twitter post this morning that said WR/QB Jordan Carswell (6′ 4″ 180) of Stall High School in Charleston, SC/Gray College in West Columbia, SC has offers from App and UNCC. It's interesting because we offered him last year, along with UNCC, out of Stall High School and he committed to UNCC on Oct 13, 2013. He shows as a Rivals and 24/7 2 star ATH. All the recruiting sites still list him as a 2014 commit to UNCC but he is on the roster at Gray College for this season. Guess he decided to attend prep school instead. I'm checking to see if the offer still stands and I've moved him to the 2015 Main page and added hudl highlights for him.
Re: Recruiting, 2015
Happy as heck to see the three players we have committed, including the PWO.
Arkansas State fans claim they just got their 12th verbal commitment today, and
South Alabama just got a verbal from a four star, cornerback Jalen Thompson from St. Paul's High School in Mobile. So we need those guys we have verbals from.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
It's still a long time until signing day in Feb, if those 12 players are any good half will back out of their commitment to play for bigger schools, but the 4 star recruit is impressive, especially when you realize that half the SEC offered and he still picked South Alabama, we will see if they can hang on to him.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Internet reports say LB Jordan Griffin (6′ 0″ 210) of Armwood High School in Seffner, FL has received a reported offer from App. Player page with video has been added to the Main. The Rivals, 24/7, and ESPN 3 star LB is a definite "SFTS" player with additional offers from BC, Cinn, Duke, EKU, Eastern Michigan, FAU, FIU, Ga. Sou, Ga. St, Harvard, Marshall, Purdue, Tulane, UCF, USF, USA, Utah, Western Michigan, and Wisconsin with most having him high to favorite on Wisconsin.

Armwood HS is a top notch football school in Florida. Even if we don't get this kid, the foot is in the door for others.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Using all the hints provided, I'm thinking it's WR/CB Curtis Nixon (6'0", 175) of Charlton County HS in Folkson, GA.

It is Curtis Nixon. I'm building his page right now and will let everyone know in a few minutes. 6' 1" 175 is the current stats and he's a WR.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
I know we had two visitors from GA today, Nixon being one. Coach Foster sounded like he was in South Ga when he picked up the "baller" for us. I know Nixon is from South GA but he was here. I've got feelers out so I'll find out soon and let everyone know. Might have to build a page quickly also.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
OK. Everything is now gathered together and updated.
As said WR Curtis Nixon (6′ 1″ 175) of Charlton High School in Folkston, GA committed to App while on a visit today. I have built him a player page with video and added him to the Commits section. He is showing additional reported offers from, and chose App over, Elon, FIU, Mercer, Ga. Sou, Ga. St, FIU, Troy, and USF. I apologize for not having a page built for him. I had a note that he was visiting today but did not show an offer so it took me a few minutes to look up all the info. Enjoy the highlights.
Let me just add to this that he is also a KR, as you'll see in the highlights, and is listed on the various sites as a CB and both safety spots in addition to WR. Should really be listed as an ATH but we recruited him as a WR so that's where I added him. Looks like he can do a lot on the field.
