Re: Recruiting, 2015
Got a feeling our first commit is coming soon. Keeping a hard watch on the searches. Just a little heads up.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
From internet reports LB A J O’Neal (6′ 3″ 216) of Holly Springs High School in Holly Springs, NC has received a reported offer from App (Yes, a NC player got an offer). Player page with video has been added to the Main. O'Neal was a visitor to our Spring Game/Junior Day weekend and also was at the Raleigh travel camp this past weekend, where reports are he was very impressive. He also camped at Va. Tech the previous weekend. The 24/7 2 star OLB is showing additional reported offers from Gardner-Webb and ODU. After watching his film I expect more offers to be coming his way.
Re: Recruiting, 2015
Daniel David looked pretty good on his videos.
Better than that Tennessee QB that we lost late to UT-Chatty last year.

I'd say your guess is pretty good.App95 wrote:David will announce his commitment tonight at 7....Based on his recent posts I'm guessing it's App St!

Re: Recruiting, 2015
I will be surprised if we don't. He's got a lot of interest and some pretty good offers but no doubt he likes App with his visits here and it never hurts to have a teammate commit either.App95 wrote:I wonder if we will offer his 3-star center Josh Fannin, who also has interest in App St?

Re: Recruiting, 2015
We have our first verbal commit for the 2015 class. QB Daniel David (6′ 2″ 190) of Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, GA has offered his verbal commit to App this evening. The Rivals and 24/7 3 star QB picked App over offers from Ga. St, Mercer, MTSU, Navy, Ohio, Southern Miss, and Troy.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Yep. I was impressed from the first time I watched the film. Can never have too many good QB's and he runs the same offense we do. Good start to the class and a long way to go.
Re: Recruiting, 2015
Easy part is over, now we got to hope he stays committed until signing day. We now have signed for 2013-2015 class 3 qbs all with 3 star ratings, if everything works out we should be set at that position for the next 4-5 years. Got to be really impressed with the recruiting since SS and his staff took over.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Very true but the same thing happened last year. They don't have near the competition as we do early on and they lost a lot of their early commits in the last weeks to poaching by bigger schools. It's how Ga. Sou and App were able to pass them (still have to see how many of the Ga. Sou players are still there at the start of the season and also at the end). We always have our work cut out for us but we'll see how the final numbers work out. We have a lot of realistic players offered so we'll just see where we finish up. We may not be top 2 again but a top 5 class would be a great 2nd class while we are still in transition.App95 wrote:This is a great start, but we have some catching up to do. Just checked Ark St and they already have 10 commits (including 6 with 3 stars).
Wanted to add one more thing. Ark. St fans are already posting about fans contacting recruits via twitter and, while right now they are talking about Texas St fans they refer back to App fans from last year. They have a short memory as their fans did the exact same thing right up until the last two weeks when the school asked them to stop. I have multiple pages of tweets from fans at every Belt school contacting recruits. They claim to be above it but it's just a bunch of bull. I will be watching to see who contacts who this year and will be keeping copies of posts to recruits we are fighting for. Everyone please keep this in mind and be careful what is said on social media.

Texas State fans harassing recruits to go there reminds me of app state fans.Busch league .

Re: Recruiting, 2015
FYI, it's against NCAA rules for anyone who can be remotely connected as a fan (and thus a booster) to Tweet at a recruit until they're enrolled. This goes for the 2014 Class, even though they're signed. Until they enroll in class, it's still a violation. Notice how the coaches don't mention a player's name, but convey their excitement just the same.
And yes, everyone does it. But is the NCAA going to make an example of Notre Dame or App State?

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Believe me I'm fully aware of this and said so several times last year. That's why I kept and am keeping detailed records of all the other Belt schools each time I see their fans doing it. I also have been collecting posts from P5 schools just as a power point to present should something happen. At least it gives us some ammo to fight with should the NCAA try and come after App or any other single school. We all stand up or we all go down fighting.T-Dog wrote:FYI, it's against NCAA rules for anyone who can be remotely connected as a fan (and thus a booster) to Tweet at a recruit until they're enrolled. And the NCAA has a lot of work to do to enforce this rule as it was put in place long before social media came around. They also have no protection in place for fans from opposing schools that could set up bogus accounts saying they are from school X and post a bunch of stuff trying to get a university in trouble. Anyone with a little computer skill can spoof an IP address and make it untraceable. That alone makes going after a single school almost impossible. They would have to hire hundreds of new people just to keep up with all the BS that is posted. Plus the coaches and recruits bear some burden in this also as these kids beg for fans to show them love. The NCAA is going to have to crack down on that as well as it just encourages violations.
We have to police ourselves and try not to fall into the trap. One day some school is going to be called out on this and the legal battles will begin. I just want to make sure it isn't us.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
I hope you're just sandbagging. I can't agree that taking a step back in recruiting would be a good thing in any way (unless it's just a case of the rankings being wrong, which is always possible). We need to have a credible season on the field and parlay that into another class that's at or near the top of the league. Especially with the Sun Belt already recruiting at the lowest level of any FBS league, it's not like the bar is set incredibly high to begin with.firemoose wrote:We may not be top 2 again but a top 5 class would be a great 2nd class while we are still in transition.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Easthall I have to agree with Moose here - we all must keep realistic expectations in all aspects including recruiting - We are now going against some established programs located smack in the middle of the college football recruiting universe - Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida - We are outliers and the new kid all at the same time --- Like Moose, I have faith our coaching staff will keep us well in the mix of top SB programs ---EastHallApp wrote:I hope you're just sandbagging.
