Re: O Line Coach
Does experience in coaching line play in our scheme make a difference? Should we be looking for the very best OL coach, or someone who has some experience in coaching our style of line play?

Re: O Line Coach
It's make or break crunch time for recruiting. Scott doesn't have time to coach up a rookie or borderline coach into our schemes. If I'm Scott and interviewing candidates, the guy I want must look me straight in the eye when he talks about blocking schemes for the running game and for protecting my QBs. Scott will know from eye contact, body language and football lingo if a guy is full of BS or if he's on the App State football wave length...if he's an "in the family" kind of guy or if he's a loose cannon. And if he's in a manageable salary/perks range.hapapp wrote:Does experience in coaching line play in our scheme make a difference? Scott will get it right to the degree that he can stretch his salary limits.

I see Satt follows LeCharles Bentley on Twitter now. Ex NFL pro bowler who runs an OL performance company now. Safe to say he is a possibility?

He's the only name I've seen mentioned for the position and I think he'd be a great choice, but I wish we'd make an announcement soon. It's crucial that we build some depth in this class on the offensive line and not having a coach can't be doing us any favors.

Re: O Line Coach
Doesn't this have to go through the state hiring process? Doesn't that require that a position be advertised for a certain amount of time? If so, it could be that they know who is going to get the job, but they have to wait to announce to be in compliance with sate hiring guidlines.TheMackAttack wrote:moonshine wrote:I'm hearing Shawn Clark is the new OL coach! There is a "special circumstance" waiver that can be invoked by Chancellor Everts that can speed up the approval process from A to Z. If she'll declare it a special circumstance, Clark (or whomever) can be on the road for ASU immediately. App gear, an athletic dept. credit card, university credentials and even plane tickets/boarding passes can be overnighted to him and he can be on the move by Thursday AM. Our new OL coach can be at work--all above board--well before a formal announcement is made by D.Gillin. I suspect that's in progress even as I tap this out. Go get 'em, Coach!

Yes. T-Dog is saying that App has a new OL commit (announced on Twitter, 247 and Scout and confirmed by Sloan, but not mentioned by name here yet). And in that recruit's commitment tweet, he posted a pic of himself with Clark and Stu Holt.

Shawn Clark will be #AppState's next offensive line coach. Already on the road recruiting for the Mountaineers.

Should also have mentioned that he is a really good guy. Very proud to have him represent us.bcoach wrote:Well if he coaches like he played we will have a good one.

Re: O Line Coach
Miami game- Searels vs Clark
There will also be 5 coaches on the field from 95 that were players or coaches. Ivey, Satterfield, Searels, Clark, and Jones. I hope Coach Moore comes, it would make a great picture.
