We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. I can't believe folks are complaining about a Mountain West team coming to Boone. I am stoked! Go Apps!

Re: Home and Home vs Wyoming
Wyoming's press release also mentioned the schools all agreed to the changes at the request of ESPN.
Is ESPN trying to create a story about NDSU's former coach who won 3 straight NC coming to play the only other school who did it? Its a bit of a reach, but I wouldn't put anything past ESPN. Hopefully it means we will be on TV.
I was excited about Southern Miss, but Wyoming is a good game for us as well.

It sounds like you're suggesting ESPN is putting together a "bracket buster" type series together for football.

If the game is guaranteed ESPN coverage then that would be one big upside for sure.

I like the idea because it means we have scheduled another FBS home and home. If that is what it took to arrange it, so be it.
Re: Home and Home vs Wyoming
Well, this certainly makes our schedule more difficult. We needed Southern Miss in Boone next year before they have a chance to recover. And the NDSU coach will have Wyoming good by the time we play them. Bring it on though. Chance for revenge. Not a bad gig. Nice job by Jay Sutton as usual. I want MARSHALL soon!

Kind of, yeah. I think there is a struggle for pecking order with the G5, a sort of ours is better than yours mentality. The SB is generally regarded as the lowest rung on the G5 ladder even though the on the field scores would prove otherwise. CUSA has gone after the larger media markets, where I think the SB has better programs. the A is just the Big East/ACC rejects. Seems like a lot of games Cusa vs. A recently. Would not mind seeing a SB agreement or at least a push to stay in the eye of the viewing public.Saint3333 wrote:It sounds like you're suggesting ESPN is putting together a "bracket buster" type series together for football.

Re: Home and Home vs Wyoming
I've seen a couple of people write similar things. I don't know if it's just that the novelty hasn't worn off or what. I just don't really see this as news. We're going to schedule home-and-homes vs. FBS. It's a given. The question is only which FBS teams they will be.hapapp wrote:I like the idea because it means we have scheduled another FBS home and home. If that is what it took to arrange it, so be it.

Wyoming moved a game with NIU, who went to the Orange Bowl recently, so they could travel to Boone, at the behest of ESPN.
App have home and homes with USM, ODU, Akron, Charlotte and now Wyoming with more to come. GaSo has one of the directional Michigan schools and maybe another one. I think we're doing okay.

OK, I'll give you that one. GSU's future home schedules are pretty awful.T-Dog wrote:Wyoming moved a game with NIU, who went to the Orange Bowl recently, so they could travel to Boone, at the behest of ESPN.

This might be a reach.. but don't forget Coach Moore is friends with Bohl and when and spoke to his NDSU teams about what it takes to win 3 straight. Not saying Moore or that connection had anything to do with this, but I find it intriguing.

Trout fishing the Bamforth or Green river areas, Semanoe or Pathfinder Reservoirs or Medicine Bow National Forest for any amount of days makes this trip very easy.EastHallApp wrote:

Re: Home and Home vs Wyoming
Seeing as though I moved to Denver 3 weeks ago......I LOVE THIS.....have to wait till 2021 to see a game out here though. As others have said Wyoming may not be the same "name" as Southern Miss they are currently a better team.

Exactly, and sometimes you move games to schedule more. We can't schedule FBS games unless we do. We did...so I see it as a plus.EastHallApp wrote:I've seen a couple of people write similar things. -Weaken our 2015 home schedule by replacing Southern Miss with a lesser-known opponent (IMO).
-Despite Wyoming's lesser name, they are actually better than USM, so we might be hurting our chances for a win.
-The return game isn't until 2021, so it's not like there was urgent need to fill an opening.
-Not an easy trip for fans (or the team).
-Not part of our recruiting footprint.
My hope is that this line at the end will shed some light on the reasoning behind this move: "Appalachian State expects to finalize additional home-and-home series in the near future."
With that said, I might consider making the trip out there, just because I've never been to that part of the country. For anyone who went before, what was your experience like?
Even if Wyoming will be better than So Miss, we shouldn't shy away from playing them. We should take on that play anyone, anywhere mentality and this development should be no different. Regardless according to our coaches and athletic department, the roster has been lining up for a breakout 2015 season. Playing tougher teams in 2015 should give us a better look at what Satt has been able to build over the previous years and give some direction around the future.
GO 'NEERS!
