ETSU will be good pretty fast. They are getting a lot of money from somewhere. New locker room and weight room in the mini dump and have a great indoor practice facility using it also. Fulmer is really helping in raising money and recruiting.

I don't know the answer, but the idea is moot anyway because FBS teams just don't play at FCS. And if they did, it wouldn't be at Western for crying out loud.NewApp wrote:You didn't answer the question. I'll repeat, "Are Sun Belt Conference members allowed to play in FCS schools' home venues?" Sun Belt schools are not allowed to play at FCS schools.
Also, the McNeese buyout was $0.00 because Cobb put in the clause that if any of the schools (this was the six-game deal with Montana) went FBS, they could back out scott free.

Re: One last thought
Now you all know why Wake, UNC and others would not play ASU. They were saying, "I never want to play ASU" just like.......I see people on here posting I don't want to ever play Elon, Western, etc.......
Not to long ago we were all bitching that the FBS teams won't play us, now we are doing the same about playing FCS teams in Boone.
I'm not calling anyone out, but stating the facts, because I'm also one of the ones that don't really don't want to see Elon, El Cit, VMI or Mercer come to Boone either.
I bet we do see Mercer within the 4 years if it can be worked out. Son stomping Daddy's butt...LOL

Re: One last thought
I thought that might have been the case with the $0 buyout but I would not have been surprised if we paid some token amount of $50,000 or something. I am surprised Montana and McNeese went for this b/c at the time we were the only one of the three looking at FBS with any seriousness it seems.T-Dog wrote:Sun Belt schools are not allowed to play at FCS schools.

Re: One last thought
Not many are saying they don't want to play FCS teams at home. People are saying they aren't going to travel to play FCS opponents, even at a neutral location.AppState89 wrote:Now you all know why Wake, UNC and others would not play ASU. Re: One last thought
I would like to make a priority FCS teams that have a winning record against us. Furman at the top of the list. Then look at scheduling FCS schools that won the last time we played. It is not so much a fair fight now, but if we are going to play FCS, and I think we must for some time for budget reasons, it would be nice to have a secondary purpose.AppState89 wrote:Bet we see Montana in Boone again..

True Saint...I should have said I have seen it in other threads, not this one. I should have made that clear. I agree, now that we are FBS, he shouldn't go to FCS schools.

NO! We will not be playing at any FCS venues anymore! West Carolina will never see the APP STATE Football team at Whitmire again unless they move up in the future!

I think we should have one FCS team as a warm up every year. I think the fans need it and so do the players. Nothing makes players feel like winning as much as winning, even if it's a team we should win against. lolAppState89 wrote:Now you all know why Wake, UNC and others would not play ASU. I would prefer FBS teams only play FCS when they have history or a regional connection - like how UVA and VT always play W&M, VMI, or Richmond. Local teams and ones they have been playing for 100 years.
So my first choice for FCS teams would be Furman, ETSU, and WCU.

I think you will be guaranteed to see an FCS team every year in KBS. Hard to find an FBS school that doesn't do that now.Maddog1956 wrote:I think we should have one FCS team as a warm up every year. Cobb even said so months ago (that we would likely schedule one every year).

T-Dog answered your question, but I'll answer it here for you: the Sun Belt does not allow conference members to play games at FCS schools. Good?NewApp wrote:You didn't answer the question. Now, if you'll read his post he was making a joke. He said we'd play a home and home with an FCS school: game one in Boone and game two in Boone. Hence his use of this emoticon:

App isn't going to play at an FCS team. Don't know why we're even discussing it.

I think we should play one FCS team each year unless we have an option that is too good to turn down. I know we were in a bind this year, but hope we play teams that are little higher up the food chain than Campbell going forward.AppState89 wrote:True Saint...I should have said I have seen it in other threads, not this one. Re: One last thought
I believe we open with Howard next year. They lost to Rutgers on Saturday 38-25. Likely a bit more competitive foe than Campbell.
