Re: that was ugly
This is on the coaching staff.. We have talent and you see flashes of it.. We just have no discipline no heart no passion just look dead.. I know Samford is a good team but with all the talent we have this should be a good game and be coming down to the last play..
I know the future is bright!! I will keep pulling for these boys!!

Brownie just committed we may need to take some redshirts off our Oline players, we are getting owned in the trenches.
We have talent at the skill positions no doubt but you win in the trenches.

They played well briefly when they got mad in the first quarter. Otherwise they've absolutely stunk it up.Saint3333 wrote:Brownie just committed we may need to take some redshirts off our Oline players, we are getting owned in the trenches.

I say you spend every single extra scholarship we get from the FBS transition on JuCo O and D linemen.

Might not be a bad idea, we're going to face even bigger and deeper lines next year in the Sun Belt. This season's a wash anyway.Saint3333 wrote:Brownie just committed we may need to take some redshirts off our Oline players, we are getting owned in the trenches.
Really crazy to see the fall of this team so quickly. The Apps will be lucky to win another game this year - maybe against Western (and even then I wouldn't count on it right now).

Agreed. We need to embrace JUCO's during the transition and beyond.
Re: that was ugly
BS. You can bring all the JuCos you want into this joke of a staff and it won't make a hill of beans difference. They can't get lined up, they're blocking the wrong assignments and they don't know when they're in on special teams. That's all coaching. We need somebody that breaths fire and will not allow this kind of chicken sh!t play we've seen so far this year. There is a major lack of character on this team.

Re: that was ugly
Nothing quick about it. This team has been on a power slide for 4+ years and the chickens have come home to roost. It's much worse than I expected but certainly not a sudden turn of events. What is scary is we may not have bottomed yet. This team is out of control.RankinApp wrote:Might not be a bad idea, we're going to face even bigger and deeper lines next year in the Sun Belt. Coaching may be part of the problem but we have zero upperclassmen leadership. IMOAppstate3481 wrote:This is on the coaching staff.. We have talent and you see flashes of it.. Re: that was ugly
I noticed many times samford was lined up on O and our D was still looking to the sidelines. What the hell, line up and play. I have not noticed this before this year. I saw this BS in the two scrimmages also this year. Another thing, Jesus, why can't we get a play called on offense. If it takes you the entire play clock every single play to get one off how many minutes are you wasting. Either the coaches are slow or the players are just not capable. This is not App State football.kgblade wrote:BS. You can bring all the JuCos you want into this joke of a staff and it won't make a hill of beans difference. Juco's would be a big help, however it seems there are just not many Junior Colleges left. We used to get a few good players from Lees-MacRrae and many other JC's but they and most other two year schools have gone to four year, due in part to the proliferation of community colleges.

wow...reaching all te way back to the 70's and 80's on that one. its been 20+ years since LM was a Juco. Its probably only a matter of time before some of the larger community colleges experiment with creating small football teams.
Re: that was ugly
Good point. We only won 3 of the last 4 conference titles. We only have 14 returning starters this year. The former coach should have worked it out to somehow have 22 starters return from an undefeated team last year. Completely his fault.fjblair wrote:Nothing quick about it. Re: that was ugly
That was just an example. We have had good luck with two JC's in Georgia recently. However , I think one has dropped football. There are certainly more around the country, but they are getting scarce as hens' teeth.appdaze wrote:JCline0429 wrote:Gonzo wrote:They played well briefly when they got mad in the first quarter. Re: that was ugly
What is the driving factor to your rebuttal? Allegiance to the former coach or the fact you judge the state of the program solely on wins and losses?Ashe_App wrote:Good point. You are right. We should have hung this season on him so that Scott would have had a better transition.Seattleapp wrote:I'm glad we got rid of Jerry Moore the way we did. This has all been workin out.

Re: that was ugly
As I remember from the eighties, LMC peeps either brought herb to Boone or came there to get it. I don't remember APP ever having a significant JUCO transfer athlete from Last Mother******g Chance.JCline0429 wrote: Juco's would be a big help, however it seems there are just not many Junior Colleges left. Normally I would agree but what would be the point? To gain experience in a meaningless season only to play as sophomores in another meaningless season.Saint3333 wrote:Brownie just committed we may need to take some redshirts off our Oline players, we are getting owned in the trenches.
