Re: Recruiting, 2015
Keep in mind a couple of things as regards to this list (I'm hoping to find time to get it posted in page form soon but I haven't pushed because I'm working the 2014 pages for Football, Basketball and Baseball and because, frankly, these guys are LOOOONG shots, as you'll see in a minute).WataugaMan wrote:From first glance it appears we are recuriting 50,000,000 WRs. Is any focus being placed for the trenches?
These offers are both from twitter and internet recruiting sites (I usually don't post only from twitter but try to find some confirmation before I list it unless, based on the player and their other reported offers, it feels legit). There are 12 in this thread but I've got 4 more to add. Only one is a lineman. A DE (6' 6" 240) from Miami. Just digging for some video.
Of the 16 "offers" I can find listed on recruiting sites we currently have more for RB and LB than WR.
And of the players listed that have been rated six are 4 stars, two are very high 3 stars. Plus Cherry (Tenn) and Pittman (South Carolina) have already committed. I expect the rest, once they are rated, to be around the same ratings. These initial offers are, as last year, truly shoot for the stars offers. Our staff isn't shy about getting our name out there (as said earlier in the thread one kid already had 22 FBS offers, 20 of them BCS)
Last, we've had 173 offers so far this year with more to come as signing day gets closer and the offers we have out commit. As I said we've got 16 possibles out right now. There are going to be many more as these kids are just starting their Jr seasons.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
OL Blake DuRant (6' 5" 315) of Lawrence Manning Academy in Manning, SC is tweeting he is coming to App next weekend. Glad he's at least showing enough interest to come here since he's already picking up high level SEC and ACC interest. Very long time until Feb 2015 but they can throw all the offers they want out to recruits like this. Never know when one will decide he likes the small town college life.
There will be many recruits coming to the WCU game including some very important 2014 ones. I'll be working all week on getting a list ready based on what reports I can find. I'll put up a list starting around Wednesday as posts start coming out.

All the more reason for everyone to head up the mountain and show these recruits how awesome Saturdays in the fall will be at App!

WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside (6' 3" 200) of Dorman High School in Roebuck, SC tweeted earlier today he has received an offer from App. The 247 3-Star receiver is planning on coming to the WCU game next Saturday. Will be nice to get him here as he is also picking up BCS interest already. I have included his Hudl highlights below.

Pulled from Phil Kornblut's blog on GoUpState.com:
Dorman receiver gets first offers
By Phil Kornblut

JJ Arcega-Whiteside
Junior WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside (6-3 205) of Dorman finished his season with 75 catches for 1500 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has been offered by Appalachian State and Elon while Clemson, USC, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Duke and East Carolina are interested. He has been to USC, Clemson, Charlotte and North Carolina for games. He was at Clemson for the Florida State game and USC for the Kentucky game. "They are both following me and want me to come to games," Arcega-Whiteside said. He is going to Appalachian State this weekend and will be at the Clemson-USC game. Right now he feels North Carolina is recruiting him the hardest and thinks they will offer. His mother is a former star basketball player at Appalachian and he likes the Mountaineers but does not have a clear favorite. Both of his parents played pro basketball and he, too, is a standout hoopster, but he plans to play football in college.

2015 OL Blake DuRant (6' 5" 315) of Lawrence Manning Academy in Manning, SC received an offer yesterday. As I said above he has some high level ACC and SEC interest. He has already camped this past summer at South Carolina, Tennessee, and Clemson. No rating or video yet but should have some from his Jr year soon. We are his first offer but somehow I think he'll pick up more.

DE/OLB Fermin Silva (6' 1" 215) of Miami Central High School in Miami, FL has picked up an offer from App. He is showing USF as an additional and is reported to be getting interest from Miami. So far the only video I could find is a short :34 second clip on YouTube. I'll link it below.

We've got several more players that we are showing interest in. I've added them to my personal page and I'm working on finishing the 2015 page for posting. I've been having a little issue in syncing to the site but I think it's fixed so I'll see if I can get the page up in a few days.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Add QB Kendall Hinton (6' 1" 185) of Southern Durham High School in Durham, NC to the list of 2015 offers. The Rivals, ESPN, and Scout 3 star is already showing offers from Duke, ECU, and NC State. We've also been in contact with a few more high rated players, including one OL from MI. If offers go out I'll add them to the thread and I'm adding everybody to the 2015 list. It will be a page soon. Most of these are shoot for the stars players but we're throwing darts out there hoping one will stick. One thing I've noticed is that, while we are still hitting the specialists we're also hitting both sides of the line with some of these interests and offers. Good to see that.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Speaking of, this one is bigger than tonight's Mega Millions. From his twitter OL/DL George Brown Jr (6' 6" 270) of Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati, OH received an offer from App today. He is a Rivals 4 star and 24/7 and ESPN high 3 star (expect those to change at the next rating) who has, by my count, 35 additional offers so far with 26 of those being BCS offers. I'm not going to type them all unless he commits but I'll do it then if nothing more than to gloat.kiddbrewer wrote:As they say about the lottery, "You can't win if you don't play."

I like these shoot for the moon offers. It exposes our program to more kids and coaches and it helps to build repoir between our coaches and the high schools. Coaches start familiarizing themselves with our program and maybe steer other kids to us.

This kid is a very good player. Extremely quick. Don't let the single-A private school label and competition level throw you off. Very competitive region they played in this past year, that had a lot of kids go to BCS schools.firemoose wrote:Next up for your viewing we have RB Ruben Garnett (5' 10" 170) of Aquinas High School in Augusta, GA. They beat my son's team in the final regular season game 33-31, after FPD missed three XP's. Aquinas went on to win the championship this year and beat out Calvary Day in the finals. Calvary had a kid sign with Clemson today, and FPD had one sign with the Tar Heels today.
