Napier would be wise to get out while he is basking in the sunlight of getting the App monkey off his back. That cuLture isn't a given for the long haul.

Yes really. The year before he took over at Louisiana we beat them 63-14. The next year he had them in the Sunbelt championship game against us. The next year they were in the championship game against us and finished 11-3. They are 9-1 with a win over #9 Iowa State and they are back in the championship game again.

Agreed.. And where are we... With almost entire offense back. He is a good coach. Iowa St will play in Big 12 Championship game if they have one. He made bad decision on 4th down safety. Should have had QB punt from shotgun. He ended up winning the game. When he did the safety. I was thinking Miracle on the Mountain Part Deux!!ASU843 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 8:23 pmYes really. Re: Congrats to the Cajuns
They were punting, so we were getting possession regardless. We had to drive 65 yards for the score, ergo, the bad snap was irrelevant.hapapp wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 5:15 pmI believe our first touchdown came off that high snap. While we didn't the get initial score, that possession lead to our first score.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 11:24 amIt wasn't a good game. However, we got a grand total of two points off their three long-snapping disasters, so it didn't actually affect the score much at all.

Yep, you're right. I was thinking of the second snap where we actually failed to score after getting the ball on their 22.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 12:50 amThey were punting, so we were getting possession regardless. Napier has a “ system “ , and its impressive. LaLa is built for the long haul if he , or someone else , maintains it. It’s Saban’s.

Re: Congrats to the Cajuns
I have to agree with the folks who believe Napier is a good coach. Yes, the intentional safety at the end of the game was a bad call. It's a case of a coach out-thinking himself. Seems to me, attempting the punt has two possible outcomes....successful punt, or another snap into orbit. The first one is desirable and the second could be addressed the same way as the time before (kick it out of the endzone for a safety). I think I would have taken the chance on the punt.
Napier has recruited well, coached players up, and built a consistently good team. We were lucky to beat them in Lafayette last season! I think he has a great career ahead of him. I certainly can't boil his coaching ability down to a single bad call.
Also, yes....the Cajuns had those baffling bad snaps, but we effectively gave them back those snaps with our turnovers. We had a fumble (would have been a first down, but resulted in 7 the other way), and three interceptions. That was the difference in the game. Aside from the turn overs, App played pretty well (maybe excluding the third quarter). Two pretty evenly matched teams played and mistakes made the different. No surprises here.
Congratulations, Cajuns! I hate it, but it was bound to happen eventually.

Re: Congrats to the Cajuns
It was actually only 2 interceptions. Moreover, we only could account for 3 points off all the bad snaps (not including the bad snap we had on the FG miss). We gained 2 points off the first safety and then their missed extra point. The penalty on the first bad snap negated the Roof TD. We did eventually score but from a similar distance if they had actually gotten off the punt. The second errant snap, we failed to score. All those miscues didn't really hurt them that much, and when you consider we missed a field goal because of a high snap, it was basically a wash. Now you could argue that the bad snaps resulted in the second safety that gave us a chance to either win or tie.
