If you are correct and many bowls aren't played and ones that are opt for name brand P5s then why not schedule a game with NCSU, UNC, Duke, Wake or ECU? Keep things in state, call it the Ol' North State Covid Bowl.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 11:30 amI really don’t see hardly any bowl games being played. Some of the teams I read as projected to play have like 2 or 3 wins. Again, if half of the remaining bowls get played it will be a miracle. Are schools really going to fly teams or even bus them to play another game in an empty stadium? Can App really afford to fly the team to New Orleans (for example) to play in the empty Super Dome against some MAC or middling Conf USA team? If we can do a day trip to Myrtle Beach that could work. Are good G5’s going to get screwed if there are only about 20 bowl games played?t4pizza wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 10:05 amJust read where the Sun Bowl has been canceled this year. This paragraph within the article surprised me with the number of bowls that have already been canceled,
"The Sun Bowl is the ninth bowl game canceled because of COVID-19; the Bahamas, Celebration, Fenway, Hawaii, Holiday, Motor City, Pinstripe and Redbox bowls are the others."
It went on to say that the AAC has already lost 4 bowl tie ins and the PAC 12 has lost 3. Not sure if that changes anything with the other bowls, but with ESPN owning most of them, maybe we can get an AAC team in a bowl. It would sure beat having another MAC or Conference USA team.

Re: Bowl Projections
While that name might not catch on (lol) not a bad idea to maybe just play Wake or ECU. It’s really about playing an extra game anyway. I’m sure that UNC and State will get decent bowl opportunities but an in state game with one of our brethren beats playing UAB or one of the usual MAC teams down in Montgomery.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 2:33 pmIf you are correct and many bowls aren't played and ones that are opt for name brand P5s then why not schedule a game with NCSU, UNC, Duke, Wake or ECU? Re: Bowl Projections
I just hate seeing the projections that put us playing a team we've played in a prior year bowl. Nothing against UAB, I don't have Toledo's attitude that we deserve someone better, I just like to get to play someone different.

Re: Bowl Projections
I think SC is allowing 25% capacity. They need to target states with % capacity with the teams that travel and let the UNCC's have the North Carolina bowls (7%). ESPN should move all of the NC bowls to another state just to try and break even on ticket sales. Florida, Texas, SC. I don't know what Georgia, Alabama or Louisiana rules are. I would like a crack at Buffalo. They look good.

Re: Bowl Projections
From a selfish/App Fans Traveling scenario, I don't really care which Bowl it is, but rather what the maximum attendance is:spacemonkey wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 4:42 pmI think SC is allowing 25% capacity. Myrtle Beach would be about 3,500
Mobile 6,000
The Saints are allowed to have 6,000 in the SuperDome
The Camelia Bowl holds 25000, so the expected allowance would be 25%/6,250
You can figure the estimated allowances by looking at the schools in each state in this article: https://www.sportstravelmagazine.com/co ... -pandemic/
Perhaps, the NCAA should follow the March Madness format and just find the biggest stadium in one of the 25% Attendance States and hold a different Bowl Game every day.

Re: Bowl Projections
I'm also of the mind that most non-CFP bowls will be cancelled. COVID cases and hospitalizations are blowing up everywhere. And I can see the CFP teams flying in the day of a bowl and leaving immediately after.
Sorry, Dirty Myrtle. Bootsy won't be rolling down there this December...no matter what.

Not a bowl projection. Year of covid. Rumor has it BYU may be option. If so, I give BYU credit if they do.
