We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Ted Roof
Coverage was a joke. Camera guy dropped the camera on that run after the blocked FG. We need to get ranked just so we can earn some better television coverage. Haha.

Re: Ted Roof
I was wholly unimpressed with ESPN tonight. I had to check to make sure this wasn’t the ocho, or PBS.
Commentators were bias and terrible, got names wrong, and the camera work was worse. Missed the 15-20 yard gain on 1st down by Raykwon Anderson, didn’t get a decent shot of the 4th down goal line shot, lost the ball multiple times.
For this to be the feature game and only FBS game televised, ESPN sure made themselves look Busch league...

Re: Ted Roof
UL-Monroe will present a different set of problems! Our run defense has been pretty good all season, minus a few long runs. UL-M has speed everywhere on Offense. Good WRs, tough TE, solid RB and a really good QB. Their Defense is woeful. We should win but this game will present some challenges for a young CB group.
Great job by everyone (players & Coaches) on Defense last night. Saying Roof has "ego" problems is unfounded...LMAO at a couple of you keyboard blowhards!!!!

Re: Ted Roof
In the past, it seems that we had a pattern of being somewhat flat after a bye week. This is the second big game following an bye this season and the team has come out clicking for both games. Drink is doing a very good job of keeping the guys focused and ready to play.

Re: Ted Roof
ESPN was poor. Camera operators were not good, missed at least 5 or 6 plays. Announcers making ULL sound like Greek Gods and said so many inaccurate statements. ESPN should really contact David Jackson, if they want a pro as a broadcast announcer!

Re: Ted Roof
My knee jerk reaction was to kick the FG then once I thought about it, going for it made sense. They were never going to go for 3 if they got the ball back, so whats the difference in being up 3 or 6 at that point? Masterclass from Drink on the final drive

Re: Ted Roof
I did, but I thought the performance the D put on tonight was absolutely incredible. I do still want to see it on a weekly basis instead of this Jeckyll and Hyde stuff, but Roof has proven that he can get the job done. Just bring it every week.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 11:08 pmNo one wanted to fire him. It was exaggerated responses from fanatics. This was a nice first step. He got back to what worked last year and the players delivered.

Yep which was after only the second game of his tenure. It even carried on after the defense was the key reason we won in Chapel Hill getting a historic win and the P5 monkey off our backs.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 7:48 amThe thread was literally titled “Fire Ted Roof” my man.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 11:08 pmNo one wanted to fire him. But was isolated to a few posters. I had started a thread in the Lodge talking about it, but it was a legit conversation about X and Os and some hints at locker room issues. Let’s not let a few posters dictate the narrative.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 7:48 amThe thread was literally titled “Fire Ted Roof” my man.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 11:08 pmNo one wanted to fire him. Re: Ted Roof
I still keep thinking about how the Carolina offensive coaches complained that there really wasn't tape that they could rely on so they didn't know what they were facing. If that was intentional then it's genius, otherwise it was a useful by-product of tinkering with our defensive schemes in games where the outcome was never in question.
As for Coastal, I think they are much improved as their P5 win demonstrates. Still, it was somewhat ridiculous to expect the same performance level as the prior year right out of the gate with a new coaching staff when 5 key starters were lost.
Drink had 10 returning starters on offense and I imagine if last night's game had been the first game of the season some posters on this board would have been calling for Drink to be fired.

Re: Ted Roof
Your statement of no one wanted to fire him is just wrong, I’m sorry to be so blunt but it is. And it was far from a few but Im OK with you and others backpedaling after helping to fan those flames.appstatealum wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 8:17 amBut was isolated to a few posters. Re: Ted Roof
These weekly threads are so ridiculous.
Yes, our defense played excellent and won us the game last night but any realistic App fan would have laughed in your face if you told them at the beginning of the week our defense would be able to win us a game AT ANY POINT this season. We rank 56th in scoring defense nationally, that's not good. I don't really see the point in taking a victory lap after one great performance, especially when preseason concerns with Roof have totally been validated with on-field examples up until this point.
I am so thankful that our defense stepped up last night and really hope we begin to see positive regression to what we were accustomed to watching last year, especially considering the talent we have on that side of the ball. But to act like after last night there is any vindication Roof is an exceptional DC and our concerns are invalid is simply you just wanting to feel the sensation of being right in this moment. Every statistical measure suggest we are an average unit in comparison to the national level.
I hate to sound like a pessimist but I am going to have to call sample size on this. Last night certainly makes me feel more comfortable with the unit as we saw what they are capable of, but until I see more consistent results I am going to stick with the notion that we have an average at best unit.
