The successful, 40ish, and younger they are the more desirable is the vibe to fill in these P5s. Wonder if Brown has the same "principles" as Satterfield and just make it a career at Troy?

As much as I detested his actions on the sideline yesterday; it actually worked for him. After about the third of his melt downs the refs started to throw more flags against the black and gold. Again I love how Satt composes himself on the sideline at all times, Brown's antics yesterday had a positive affect for his team.

You can usually tell the difference in a good officiating crew and a bad one. The good ones don’t let coaches get in their ears, throw flags for pass interference late after a receiver throws his arms up and does the “invisible flag pulling thing”. I umpire a lot of baseball and have coached a lot of baseball so I have gained a lot of perspective from each side. I never let the coaches get in my ear and when I have one bitching the whole game I always want to let them know about the missed opportunities their team had that would have made officiating mute.

I wish that “invisible flag pulling thing” would draw a flag of its own.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 10:32 amYou can usually tell the difference in a good officiating crew and a bad one. Re: Neal Brown Post game presser
yes, this was my first game at Kidd Brewer this season, and I thought this was at least the third game this year that we could have easily hung 3 or 4 more touchdowns on a team. Troy hasn't been super impressive to me all year, and yesterday confirmed that observation. They couldn't do anything against our defense. ULL has been the only team (outside of the fluke at GS) that had any sort of scheme to score on us, although they caught us on an off day, and took advantage of a couple of blown coverages if I remember correctly. I was one of several posters that agreed we might see the Cajuns again this year. If we can fix the mid-late season mental mistakes in the o-line (or at least conform to fixing what the refs are seeing as holds), we should be golden.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 8:56 amI really don't have a problem with the interview. I'm sure he will review the tape and confirm that the correct calls were made on review. I was frustrated with these as well because the refs seemed determined to help Troy out and it shouldn't be necessary to overturn so many key calls on review. No, I don't think the bad calls were intentional or that there is a conspiracy but I do think the officiating was bad in this game. Thank God the reviews were available.
The constant reviews really took the rhythm out of the game. Seems like the officials were being super picky on holding calls both ways but I'm not the best at determining that from the stands. I don't usually re-watch games but I might have to watch this one.
I'm sure that Coach Brown was disappointed but I hate to tell him....the Apps outplayed his boys from end to end. Despite the disappointing offensive performance in the second half, Troy couldn't move the ball against our D at all. He complains about the short field but we gave him a short field for the entire third quarter and he got ZERO points.

True but in his defense what is he supposed to do? You are standing 55 yards away and can't really see the play. It's a tough spot to be in as you have to defend your players. The play was early and he had to set the tone with the refs. Honestly, the play was bang bang and if it had happened on the other sideline, I don't think that we would have been able to review it. It happened in front of too many eyes to not see that it was a great play by Spurlin to strip it. The Sutton TD was amazing but in real time, I don't know that anyone would have been able to call it anything but incomplete. The one turnover that I am with Coach Brown on is the fumble where forward progress appeared to be stopped. Other than that, I think that he handled the press conference very well.
