Hey, I am the guy that put up the offense playing 60 minutes thread. IMO, a message board is a place for the fans to talk about the team just like as if we were all sitting around a sports bar having a beer. I expect folks to express good opinions, bad opinions and everything in between about the team, program, fans, coaches, administration, etc as long as it is in good taste and not being a jerk. The whole fun of being a fan is enjoying the good times and crying about the bad times. Just because someone is not all rah rah all the time does not make for a bad fan. Why can't we talk about our warts and weaknesses without people calling you out like you are a bad person? I like to throw out a point and see what others are thinking and I don't always want or expect everybody to agree with me. I think we have a very good team but always want them to improve. I think we are doing great at 7-2 FBS in such as short time but that doesn't mean I can't want more. If you don't set your sights high you will never achieve them. I will never apologize for setting the bar high.

I think you make some very good points. We have set the bar very high and that is a good thing. If you were slamming the team I would be against you but I don't see you doing that. This is a message board made up of mostly guys who really are not experts at what we are talking about. We are just having fun. We want to be better that's all. We are winning but we want to be perfect so we throw in our two cents. We can do this with no harm because the guys who really know what they are doing ( coaches ) just laugh at us and go on doing what they know how to do. So I welcome your posts that give us something to talk about between games. So how about this one. Why don't we block kicks any more?

My fellow West BY GOD Virginian, we both know there is a place deep in our souls where optimism resides, as natives of WVA we have had optimism and hope instilled in us from the time we were small children because it was the one thing no one else could take away from us as our grandparents, parents and others saw so much decline and hardship.

Our MMB has some great people, some very knowledgeable people, some very insightful people - I have made what I feel will be life-long friends because of this board - unfortunately we have a few who only want to bitch and complain, if there isn't much to complain about they will create something - if there has been some concerns (like about 2 years ago) many of us were saying on here that we need to give the coaches time to build what they wanted, we were playing some very young guys, we were in a major transition, etc., and we still had those who called for the firing of Satterfield and Woody - one guy posted a picture of a For Sale sign in front of a house, a few others totally overboard with their criticisms --- it happens but just look where we are today --- SO STAY POSITIVE MY FRIEND!!!
DISCLAIMER - This is not meant to demean those who have brought up legitimate concerns on this board!!!

p.s. - as most on here are aware I brought 4 of my OLD childhood WV buddies to the Ga State game and they were in total agreement that they were very impressed with the entire football atmosphere in Boone and The Rock that weekend and then on that Sunday I read on here where many were disappointed in the turn-out and fan participation, etc., - Sometimes hard to figure???

From just a glance the topics on the board to a causal passerby would suggest that our program and team were and are on decline.

Topics like:

1. When in our offense going to play a full 60 minutes
2. The "fire" at Kidd Brewer Stadium

And so and so forth.

Am I being too harsh or is some of our "fans" not seeing what I see? I see a team that is 6-2, a top 10 defensive unit, #1 unit in interceptions, averaging over 300 yards rushing per game, and many other items.

I sit in Section 205 and I like to get into the game and sometimes I am maybe too loud, on the way out of the game Saturday night a fan asked me if I planned on moving to "better seats" next fall, I asked him what was he asking? He said in 12 years he had never heard someone so loud at the stadium. Well my response was him to him, " Yell louder". Saturday was the first time for a friend of mine to attend with me and he was wowed, by all of the spirit and pride for the program and the university. He is from Jonesboro, Arkansas and he said that ASU there is nothing at all compared to our game day. He got, why can't we?

I did not attend App, I am not an alumni, I just love this program, the coaching staff, the players, the athletic administration, the fans, the atmosphere, and the entire App spirit.

I am not sure why so many of us take to this board and complain!!!!!! We are 6-2 and the Legion of Boom is coming after you. Wake up Mountaineer Nation, we are a strong program.

Good post. Thanks for your support. My first reaction to your point is that I don't care what others think of our posts or names of threads on the MMB. So, yes, you are being too harsh.

Keep on yelling, nothing wrong with that. If the folks around you don't like it, they can get earplugs. I am 100% certain you are not any louder than the canned music.

It's not all complaining though. I would describe it as being "real". Yes, App's D is top notch. But, our offense can sputter at times. Nothing wrong with pointing out stuff needing improvement.

And, I chuckled when I read the "fire" at KBS thread. I maintain that the secret to getting people to stay throughout a game is to have a good game, and to encourage fan interaction (could be yelling, could be something else). IMO, the canned music actually prohibits said fan interaction, which is exactly opposite of the intended effect. How often did you hear the "App - State" chant Saturday?

BTW, I think you meant the "Legion of Boone". Makes more sense.

When half of the section turns around, including young children, to see who is making these inane loud comments which has little to do with the game its not supporting your team, its trying to get attention. I make plenty of noise when App is on defense and have even apologized to those around me when I get too excited sometimes, but when my friends ask me if there is something wrong with "that guy" I just say maybe he has had a little to much to drink. His comments were sort of funny the first couple of games but now have just become annoying. Why make derisive comments about the other team when you are beating them 28-3 and why deride the refs on every call even the ones where App was clearly off sides. I appreciate the guys support of App but really. Are those mega phones even allowed in Kidd Brewer?

The ONLY point I was trying to make was to call him out when he started a thread and detailed a story of a "fan that accused him of being too loud" and that this fan stated he "had never heard someone be as loud" (205 used to be rocking 20 times louder back in the title years) as if his being loud was in support of the team and that another fan had the nerve to tell him not to be so loud... not the case at all and I wanted to set the record straight.

"fans"? Neither of the two posters you referenced WVAppsfan is a "fan"--- They have both been FANS for over 80 years combined. They don't need your quotation marks.
