I actually thought the game experience was way too choreographed. Reminded me of a minor league baseball game. Lots of contests and schtick. Not my idea of a college game experience.

I will never set foot in Statesboro again and I haven't been since the mid-2000s. So glad we whipped them! Go Apps!

When we scored our 27th point the place emptied. It was like a fire alarm went off.
We only really got yelled at while walking down the road. Frat guys in pickup trucks screaming F U and stuff. Everyone else was fine. We did go to a GSU tailgate in their alum lot to see Chuck's neighbor and some guy came up and told us to leave. The others told us to stay.
Our crowd chanted "whose house, our house." I couldn't bring myself to join in.
Very similar for me. Actually had a few GaSo fans welcome us and ask App to take it easy on them

appfanz, you deserve special APP Fan recognition! I salute you and hope you are able to keep bringing it. Also, my sincere thanks to all who braved this year's visit to the stink!!!appfanz wrote:I've been to every game we have played at Ga Southern since they joined the conference except one. I have never really had any issues but never could figure out why the student section is behind the opponents bench. And visitors were placed beside the student section which I also thought was asking for trouble. Now that we are placed in the second deck things seemed better. Overall another good experience last night.
And a little piped in music. Just enough to where I really didn't notice. Us having a small part of our band there really helped. It also appeared their band was piped in through the loudspeaker which I did like.

They're doing all they can to attract fans it seems. Sounds like it's coming off rather lamely.appchicago wrote:I actually thought the game experience was way too choreographed. Reminded me of a minor league baseball game. Lots of contests and schtick. Not my idea of a college game experience.
After our experience in Statesboro in 2012, I doubt I'll be seeing the inside of Paulson stadium anytime soon.

Re: Those who attended last night's game ---
A great win, for sure in Paulson last night. I have come to enjoy the bi annual trip down to Statesboro. The visitor section in the upper deck has helped eliminate much of the potential conflicts with the inebriated GSU students. I park just across the street from the entrance to the Stadium and find some ASU faithful to hang with pregame. There are some obnoxious Eagle fans but I just ignore them or give it back to them. I'm always able to find some respectful, knowledgeable fans that are just as passionate about GSU as I am about our Apps and like to talk college football just as I do. I camped beside some last night, met some during pre game tailgating, drank with some at Gnats Landing after the game and conversed with some of the more Senior GSU supporters at breakfast this morning. I did participate in the "Whose house, Our house" chant. It felt good at first but then not as much. I think the Turkey and the recollection of my first trip to Statesboro were spurring me on. If the GSU fans weren't madder than a wet eagle before, they definitely were after the chant! Lots of one finger salutes aimed up our way. I know one thing's for sure...........It's Great To Be A Mountaineer!

I started the Our House chant, and it was everything I thought it would be. If you've been to Paulson more than once, you understand.

My wife started the Our House chant when we won in Staresboro in 2008 when we were then seated right beside the student section. It is the only time I really felt for my life down there!!

I was surprised that the atmosphere was pretty low key, I think that most of their fan base knew that their odds were bad for this game. Never had any problems and actually had a few fans after the game congratulate us.

Re: Those who attended last night's game ---
It was by far the most defeatist atmosphere I've seen from GS fans, even pregame. At halftime, a GS fan told me I could walk into their student section and only be the second most-hated person there behind their head coach.
Tyson Fernandez caught a cup that was thrown at him at halftime, the real halftime.
Some of their drunks wander in and sit in the "family fun zone" which is right next to the visitors section. Only a few times there were some verbal back and forths, mostly early.
We can't win by enough points down there.

I nominate this sentence (the first one) for the best single sentence in any post on this here message board. Ever.kickass143 wrote: If the GSU fans weren't madder than a wet eagle before, they definitely were after the chant! Lots of one finger salutes aimed up our way.

I was there, yes they threw cups of ice. Yes there fans, students, were idiotic. We had one issue going back to the car, by buddy was given the passive aggressive insult," You look like you make good grades" and we were also told " Go Western Carolina". I like their stadium, despise the sad town, and the Gnats and the water at beautiful Eagle Creek stink. It was a great game, and glad I made the trip. It will be the last one too.

I haven't been there since Bake Baker led that incredible App comeback. Just not interested in being that uncomfortable at a game.
