2018 we play at Penn State.pottswvu1988 wrote:I'm about 45 minutes from Carlisle. Nice town. The PSU fans are so happy right now it is getting on my nerves! As a WVU grad, they used to hammer us on a routine basis, and when they are good, they let everyone know.
Doesn't APP play at PSU in a few years? That would be so much fun!

Hmm, hope your plane is on time. You will be lucky to arrive in Boone by Noon. My suggestion is to accept the earlier poster's offer for the parking pass. That was a very generous offer. (I have argued with 09 on this here message board, but he gets two "attaboys" for that one!) Once you arrive, take in a tailgate or two, and then find the band. They should be out in the parking lots (you will hear them). Keep the time in mind & be in your seats by 2:30 when the band enters the stadium.pottswvu1988 wrote:Wow! Thanks for all of the replies! My daughter and I both get a really good feeling about App State, and this message board definitely solidifies that feeling.
My wife and I are both WVU grads, but Cassady wants to have an experiences of her own. It is a bit funny that she could become a Mountaineer, just for App State!
We are arriving in Charlotte at 9:30am, so hopefully we can get to Boone in good time for a tailgate, depending on the game time. Should I buy advanced parking for the game?
Good luck & safe travels. And, yes, App State plays Penn State in Sept. 2018, I think.

Re: Texas State - 1st App Game
I definitely took the offer of the tickets and parking pass... very thankful for that offer for sure! We aren't checking bags, so hopefully we can get off the plane and in the car as soon as possible. I was hoping to get there by noon, but I have never made the drive from Charlotte to Boone. Driving from York, PA would be 7 1/2 hours so the plane was my best bet.

When you leave the airport, take I-85 towards Spartanburg and get off onto Highway 321 and it will take you all the way in. Plan on a 2 hour drive from the airport!pottswvu1988 wrote:I definitely took the offer of the tickets and parking pass... very thankful for that offer for sure! Body stuck in Gaston County...heart stuck in Boone! Go Apps!

We have decided to drive from York, PA. We are leaving at 4am. Got a room at the Hampton Inn & Suites 1 mile from the University.

I assume you will be taking I-81 to I-77 to Highway 421? If so you should pass by Winchester. Could have saved me on postage man. Haha. J/K. Hopefully you saw my private message regarding the tickets, pass, and other small goodies being sent yesterday to your house.pottswvu1988 wrote:We have decided to drive from York, PA. Enjoy the drive with your daughter. Be very cautious on Interstate 81. A lot of 18 wheelers, and anytime I take a trip to Boone or Charlotte, it seems to never fail with an accident or some type of delay. Safe travels. Be loud. Most importantly, enjoy all of the things we on this board love about App, and hopefully it will be a convincing trip for your daughter.

Should've been the only suggestion. That actually beats everything else, unless you take some wings and BBQ up to the top of Mount Mitchell and watch the sunset.CornCobPipes wrote:Woodlands BBQ in Blowing Rock is another suggestion.
