Re: Marcus Cox?
Believe it may be a pull or tear of a muscle. He didn't really take hit on that play.
Hoping he can be back after the bye. But definitely don't want to rush it.

Re: Marcus Cox?
Had the same thought seeing him on crutches. I think we're good with Moore as our starting RB but I don't think having him carry the ball 40 times is a sustainable plan over the course of the season. Hopefully Evans and Boyd can share a little more of the load until Cox comes back.

Would love to see Cox back and look forward to it but we will be just fine with Mooremikeyosef wrote:Somehow I thought Marcus' injury was more of a deep bruise or something of that nature. Seeing him on crutches made me wonder if he has a tear or something else. I can't imagine if he's on crutches now he'll be playing any time soon. Jalin Moore is a really good back who's going to be great but while he has the speed I don't think he has Marcus' run sense. The way Marcus plants his foot, to move quickly right or left to find an unexpected hole just can't be taught overnight. We are so lucky to have Jalin, but Marcus is the beast we need to win out. Any thoughts?

Marcus is the man but...Moore and potentially Evans are beasts. Other than loss of depth I don't think we skip a beat. I am not sure anyone wants to say it but Jalen just might be better. Again, Cox needs to get in there.

Re: Marcus Cox?
Moore is likely more athletic, but Cox has better vision and it the better receiver of the two.
I'm not concerned about have Cox, Moore, or Evans back there.

Re: Marcus Cox?
The real question is if it's serious does he take a medical redshirt? A muscle tear or severe pull is a 1-2 month injury minimum. Even a high ankle sprain which others have mentioned is a month.

Re: Marcus Cox?
It could have changed but the rule was playing in the first 30% of games and then miss the rest of the season because of injury --- I do believe there was some talk about Marcus leaving after last football season (don't believe it ever became serious) but with that in mind I would doubt he would want to come back for a 5th year ---

Re: Marcus Cox?
Does Marcus have legitimate pro prospects? I'm not knowledgeable about these things but it would be great to see him in the NFL.
Whatever happens, I hope he errs on the conservative side and leaves APP in great shape.

Re: Marcus Cox?
He may not be a starting back in the NFL, but I could see him as a breather back or a 3rd down back, getting in for 15-20 plays a game.

Could always be like cadet, but I also think cox is a lot better runner. I could see him getting significant carries in the NFL. A lot of teams use power backs and backs with patience and vision

In addition to that, there aren't that many backs that can carry 30 + times a game on a consistent basis. Cox has been very durable even with the dings here and there.

Re: Marcus Cox?
Amazing he has been this durable. Took pictures with him after ODU. I'm an average size man and he looked small next to me. NFL would take some pounding. He will most likely have to make it as a free agent but hey the dude is tough. Rooting like crazy for him to keep it going.

Re: Marcus Cox?
First, let's step back and understand that the muscle tear diagnosis is coming from one speculative post on a message board. No indication I'm aware of that this is actually a season-ending injury.
Now, if it were, yes he'd be eligible for a medical redshirt, having played in fewer than 30% of our games.
Whether he'd pursue that route, who knows. I don't think his NFL prospects would warrant leaving early - I doubt he gets drafted at all, and if so, it would be very late. But that will be the case whenever he's done, so it's possible he'd be ready to be done with school and take his shot now rather than later.

My thoughts exactly. It was starting to sound like we had already cleaned out his lockerEastHallApp wrote:First, let's step back and understand that the muscle tear diagnosis is coming from one speculative post on a message board. Re: Marcus Cox?
I asked this question in another thread and was told he is no longer on crutches but was not practicing either. The plan is to hold him out this week and with the extra time before our next game, make sure he is healthy.
