Get used to it. We have no true dual threat QB currently on the roster. Our runs are predictable. Lamb is no threat to run, and although we played a great team, Clemson showed how to defend our offense well. Time to rest and rebound in 2 weeks.

Taylor ran for close to 500 yards last year. Caruso is a dual threat QB. Daniel David is a dual threat QB. Clemson showed how to defend our offense because they have perhaps the best DLine in the country. Calm down folks Clemson is a perennial top 10 team, we are second year FBS.

agree, you must throw the ball sometimes on first down, just disappointed with the receiving corp, just couldn't get open, really surprised me, thought the offense would play well.

Totally agree. What is surprising, from what I recall, we ran the ball and had much better O play last year against Michigan.

Thinking about it now, it seems Clemson studied that tape and we didn't mix our gameplan up much from that game. Clemson had a blueprint and it worked.

Our D however, unlike last year at Michigan, played great! In SBC, and for rest of year, we'll be OK. I have utmost confidence Taylor will learn from his mistakes today.

The RUN D was good. The pass D was Clemson's b!tch. Again, same as last week, no pressure on QB. He had way too much time. We have to get creative on ways to bring disguished pressure on the QB.
Offense was offensvie. Fundamental breakdowns were juvenile. That's sad for a proud program to look like that on a big stage. The penalties were sooooo bad. The game plan and lack of adjustments in play calling were equally as bad.
The coaches have more to learn from this than the players.

It kept being pointed out that they were losing staters and what not on the defensive side but with them it really doesn't matter, they had just as talented guys waiting. They have ridiculous talent in the secondary, first round NFL talent; we don't have that type of talent. Shaq Lawson is a monster as well as the rest of their DLine. I expected about 17 points out of the offense and obviously wasn't overly impressed but I think I was also underestimating their defense. I would've liked to see some more points but other than that and stupid penalties I think we played alright. We'll do well the rest of the year.

When was this game scheduled? Were we still FCS? I really don't know the answer, but I'm glad we're playing against the best. I guarantee these guys will learn from this game and will use it as motivation later in the season.

Besides, what happens when we put a kick ass team out on the field but play a weak schedule and it costs us a New Year's Day bowl? Will you complain about the weak schedule then?
Really don't want a weak schedule. I would love for every week to be a dog fight that is not decided until late in the fourth qtr. Just happen to agree with Benson that it would do more for the conference if we were playing other G5 teams and winning. Before the loss of revenue and where will we find the lost cash is thrown in here I fully understand why we need these games. Also I think we have a pretty kick ass team this year just not a P5 type team.

If Benson would find the conference new revenue streams, or, a half way decent tv contract, maybe we could afford to play more G5 schools.

I disagree. You / we have to continue to play, and most importantly compete, against the P5 to gain relevancy and national attention. Thats the only way to ensure being declared the top G5 school. Otherwise, we will run into a situation that we play a weak schedule and despite winning are on the outside looking in. I think Benson's thoughts are flawed. Let's face it, the sunBelt conference schedule isn't strong enough to overcome not playing a P5. Honestly, I think it would make much more sense if Benson said no more FCS games and other G5 should be scheduled in their place. I simply don't get the notion of making a schedule "easier". To me that is a cop out and sign of someone looking for an easy way out.

This is true. This is a great post, instead of just ripping someone's opinion which has become so popular you offered a realistic view of where we are sitting.

Drop the FCS game and play an extra G5 home and home. Problem solved, while improving strength of schedule at the same time.

SEC can afford to play a FCS because conference schedule is so strong. The SunBelt isnt. If anyone needs to eliminate the FCS game, its us. Lets be on the cutting edge.

I am down with that idea man and I really do not want an easier schedule. I hated last week. I totally have no interest in that kind of competition.

Exactly. We play FBS football. We should duck no teams within our subdivision.

I don't see what all the criticism of the coaching staff and players is all about. We lost to the 12th ranked team in the country.

Well in future Mountaineer opponent news, Matt Breida is running wild over Western Michigan...
Up next on our schedule, I'm watching the ODU vs Norfolk State game now and ODU looks very vulnerable and is losing 10-7 early in the 2nd.

Clemson is definitely a superior team. However, I can't help but think of all the ways we shot ourselves in the foot during the 2nd quarter. That 20 point + swing wasn't the result of us playig them straight up, rather them capitalizing on our poor coaching decisions/plays (performance) I.e. 3 chances at a FG, pick 6, INt in endzone and INt in just about the clemson redzone. Arguably, our D had no say in those points (save the FG).

All of that said, do I think we would have won? probably not. But I do think it would have been a much more respectable game, performance wise, had we taken care of ourseleves like Satterfield preached thoughout the week. Unfortunately, we had multiple mental lapses in the 2nd quarter that determined the outcome of the entire game.

And Wyoming lost bad again this week to E. Michigan after losing to an FCS team last week. Looks like we have a weak opponent for Homecoming.

Being at the game today. First we made ourselves look way worse than we actually played in the 2nd QTR throwing 3 picks (1td and one that could have given us the lead). D looked good except for a couple big pass plays, they always swarm to the ball.

The bad was the offense. Play calling was vanilla and the WR group was the worst I've seen them play in a while. I know McGuire is on suspension but where is Letman?

Saying that we will have a good year, a lot of things to be optimistic about. Just wish we could show up like A State and Misouri

One more thing, good job special teams. With the exception of one long return we played lights out and returned big. Capel is a beast in at KR. We made Clemsons ST look not so great....
